I have a 30 litre tank with 2 fish so don’t remove them. I leave enough water for them to swim in. Hope this helps. **Q: I have very fine sand, will be too strong for that? I find most pumps empty water too fast** A: I also had sand but couldn’t put the pump to the bottom as the sand would have been sucked up. I used to riddle the sand and then hold the pump an inch or so above it. It’s a good pump but yes it does take the water out fairly fast.. it’s the only one I’ve ever had so cannot compare it with any other. **Q: What diameter is the soft pipe, as I want to add a tap to stop the flow..?** A: You'll not need a tap, just lift the suction end pipe out of the water and it will stop.
