The one purchased from this listing is absolutely beautiful, better than even the picture gives credit for. The craftsmanship is outstanding, with painstaking care put into every small, exacting detail, from the cut of the cover to the embossing and decorative lacing. The leather stain is rich and gorgeous. The lapis lazuli set into it is lustrous and smooth. The stitching is neat, even, and secure. The paper is well-crafted, heavy, stitched nicely into the binding. Overall the entire journal feels wonderful in the hand, with a nice heft. The way the binding is done in parts makes it very easy to lay the pages flat to write no matter where in the journal you are.It was also very meticulously packaged, with tape and/or foam over any parts that might scratch or damage other bits in transit to ensure it arrived in perfect condition.This is worth the extra couple of bucks for the original vs. the knockoff. Make sure, if you're buying one of these journals among multiple identical listings, that you're getting it from Rustic Town and nowhere else. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Real tasty leather! *by M***E on February 1, 2023* The media could not be loaded. I was so happy to start a new journal. I sat down and wrote the date with the new pen I bought especially for journaling. I was all set; coffee, water and pen. I was on my way to my first journal entry in years. I was quickly interrupted by something one of my elderly parents needed. When I got back to my room I was further distracted by another news story about ΒΏGeorge Santos?. I have adult onset chronic pain related ADHD. I get distracted...a lot. As I sat back down I heard my 8 month old huskie pulling on something with his teeth. He was really having a good chew and I figured he was gnawing on one of his new "indestructible" bones. He didn't notice me coming towards him, didn't manage to get under the bed like he usually does when he has something he shouldn't. Then I saw what he had....I screeched "Caillou,you little b@$+@£♧!" , he paused and gave me a very stinky side eye.Overall the journal survived. It appears he was trying to get the stone or latch off but failed. I must admit it is a great journal, it is very well made. Caillou managed a few small rips but he didn't destroy it. I have always had a deep love for writing, and i write everything from randomized lists to fictional stories to my own pure thoughts and feelings, so it’s always been important to me that i have an equally special place to store all of those things which i hold sacred to myself. And this is the most perfect journal for those things. You can see the care and attention to detail down to the stitching, and the paper feels so nice to write on. I also loved that they included a bag, as well as a personal thank you note and care instructions for the beautiful leather exterior. I absolutely love my journal, and it is safe to say that it’s my favorite i have ever owned.
