I usually use the light on my cell phone or a pen light but it's just another thing to balance on the clipboard or hold onto while I'm doing vitals. It's bad enough I have to wake them up to do vitals and temps in the middle of the night, I don't want to also blind them with the overhead lights. I like this pen. It practically lights up half the room so I can see everything I'm doing just fine.
