Works as advertised. No issue for left handed players.
This tool is designed for learning fingering on the fretboard, it is not designed to make accurate sounding musical notes. That said, it works great for it's design, and is quiet enough to use while watching TV, commuting, etc. For me, I use it to practice scales and cords at work or on the bus. There are a few reviews that state if you're left handed, you can switch the strings to left handed, but my take on that is, why bother? This isn't designed to be musically accurate, so I just play it upside down with the bass strings on the bottom.

crap at half the price
WAIT, This might be really good for making chords when you are out somewhere, let's say a train, and just want to lean to the side and form some of chords, back and forth for practice. However, I couldn't even get the top to slide back and forth to reveal the strings. Even when I used a tiny screwdriver to get it started and a little petroleum jelly, it was as obstinate as, fill-in-the-blank. So it's on the way back, another deserving product for those who enjoy burning cash...

Good for Muscle Memory of Chord Shapes
This is actually an okay item (for the price) to help BEGINNERS build muscle memory of chord shapes.YES - it is cheap like other reviewers have said for this and similar products.NO - It does NOT feel the same as your guitar.NO - It will NOT make a good sound. I believe the ads have avoided saying that anything about sound - for GOOD reason. It sounds like a child's plastic guitar at best - except it's probably worse sounding.BUT, I use it a couple times in the evening while I am watching TV. I'll pick it up and form a couple of chord shapes. I've been using it to practice barre chord shapes. It CAN help you build muscle memory and help you begin to improve your ability to shift from one chord to another.I selected this particular product because it was cheap and looked about like all the others on the market. It's not something that you will impress ANYONE with. Despite the ads, you won't be playing this with friends. I probably wouldn't use it in front of anyone either. But the strings and frets are spaced pretty close to a guitar and the strings appear to be actual guitar strings, so you can start to build muscle memory for your chord shapes. I find it okay to practice a one chord shape at a time, but you MIGHT find it useful for switching back and forth from one chord shape to another. You won't be able to perfect your exact finger placement because you can't hear how your chords sound - do that on your guitar. In general, an okay prop for practicing chord shapes - and not much else. As you become a better guitar player, you will probably give or throw this away.I'm happy with the product for what it's worth. GLAD I didn't pay more money for one of the more expensive versions you can find from other sellers.

Good for practice but not enough frets
This is good for what it is- a PRACTICE neck- it makes no sound, it's for fingering practice only. Good when traveling and you want to practice what you've learned. But it only has 5 working frets- it has a 6th one, but unless your 4th finger is on that one and the rest above, it's useless. I returned it as I realize this isn't enough working frets for me. Oddly, I have yet to see a practice neck with 10 or more frets, which is what I would really like.

It’s not supposed to make sound….
This is a simple device to help beginners, like me, practice finger placement on the frets. Also helps develop calluses too. It’s not for making sound, finger placement only. Works as advertised! It’s a shame that people who thought they were getting a travel guitar for $14 gave it a bad review. Those people obviously didn’t understand what they were buying.

Don't misundstand what this product is EDIT: Broke
I read reviews of people saying they can't tune it or it sounds bad. Of course it does. It's meant for muscle memory. I've played guitar for 17 years. I just wanted something small I could have around the house to practice finger picking patterns. This works great. Might even take the fret board off. While the feel of a real guitar is nothing like this, this isn't meant to be that. If you want something that actually plays, buy a mini guitar. This is a cheap item used for muscle memory and nothing more.EDIT: lowered from 5 stars to 2 stars since it broke. I'm not sure if amazon will sell a nice one of these so either test your luck or skip entirely.

Helpful in learning the chord shapes
I used this at work when I was on long hold times on the phone, just practicing transitioning from one chord to another. It also helped to develop the toughness on the finger tips (that I found to be the hardest part of playing). I still use this when trying to practice a difficult chord to learn. Some other reviewers complained about the sound of it, but I think they missed the point, this is not for making music, just practicing the chord placement. You would need a real guitar to listen to the quality of the chords.

Poor quality
Upon opening I found the strings slightly loose. I gave a 1/8th turn to tighten with the supplied Allen wrench and two strings snapped. Not worth the money.
