Review: Why didn’t I buy this sooner?! - Umm... why didn’t I buy this sooner for my FJ?! I always ask myself this now it’s installed. Heavy duty, looks clean, and padding for elbow is super comfy. Note; you need to remove passenger side oem arm rest but driver side arm rest can be reinstalled after. Rubber gasket provided helps to mute sound of closing a little bit. The edges are sharp and lid is heavy. Get your fingers out of the way when closing! Space inside was surprising nice with small compartment in top rear to put pens, small tools, or even driving glasses. Comes with two keys. I’ve had my truck broken into twice in last two years. They always go through center console. This will give a little more peace of mind. The FJ lacks storage and lockable features. This should be a must do mod first thing with an FJ. Price is fair. The quality of product looks to be built well. Fit and finish are top notch.
Review: PERFECT ARMREST/CONSOLE FOR FJ CRUISER - PERFECT ARMREST/CONSOLE FOR FJ CRUISER! As a big guy, I found myself using the passenger armrest more naturally than the driver side armrest in the FJ, and was more accustomed to a bench seat (truck) console armrest for slouching ... I wasn't looking for a big lockable security console, just a comfortable armrest really, so tried a cheap eBay 'strap a wider armrest between two skinny armrests' as a solution initially -- but the straps broke upon installation attempt (waste of 12 bucks). Believe all the hype! This console/armrest insert is a perfect fit for the FJ console! The armrest is comfortable (and more natural for me than the fold-down factory armrests), and as the other reviews attest: this thing is a hefty and secure beast! I opted for the Tuffy 7-1/2" Gas Spring after reading several reviews about how heavy the lid was ... word of note: you can totally use the measurements sent with the spring with ONE major exception: find and use a flat/open nut (or two) rather than the delivered round-covered nut for the bottom spring pin on the outside of the box!! Everything was looking good with the measurements and the round-covered nut at first, but when I went to close the lid for the first time, the lip of the lid caught on the round-nut that was sticking out, preventing the lid from being closed. As an alternative, find some flat-open nuts [likely lying around] and experiment just a bit with the spacing of the bottom pin and nut so that the lid will close completely. This will save you several headaches of drilling and re-drilling and the lid not closing. At the end of the day, the spring makes the lid opening and closing a breeze (and may save a finger or two in the long run)! And yes, you will need to remove the passenger side armrest permanently (note: both will initially need to be removed for installation, but the driver side armrest can be reinstalled after the console installation). Another note here: check to see if you have a square or circular hole on the armrest before ordering the plastic hole cover part -- there is a difference, and it's worth taking a couple minutes to make sure you order the right one. If you don't opt for the gas spring, the installation is truly a matter of taking off the armrests, dropping the console in place, replacing 2 bolts (a 3rd bolt is also an option if you want to get super-secure, but also requires careful drilling -- which I did not opt for in my case), and then reinstalling the driver armrest if desired [replace armrest with applicable square or circle armrest hole cover]. For my drilling/measuring exercises it was a couple hours (doh!), but could literally take 10-15 min in the simplest case (no gas spring). There are all kinds of web pages out there with part numbers and such, and pictures and diagrams and all that ... (Google is your friend!) I'm just here to pile on with what a GREAT addition it is, and how relatively simple the installation can be. Super pleased with this GREAT product!! Even though it was a bit pricey, totally worth it in how great it fits and feels!!

**Q: Will this security console fit the 2014 FJ Cruiser with a passenger armrest as well as driver armrest?**
A: The console will fit, but unfortunately the passenger side armrest will have to be removed to accomodate it. With that said the console does act as an armrest once installed.

**Q: Since it's a locking box,  does it actually bolt in? And how?**
A: It will bolt right in existing bolt holes in the floor without drilling.  An additional (optional) security step requires one hole be drilled for another bolt.

**Q: Will this fit the 2007 fj cruiser special trd edition that is all black, only 3300 made? from reviews it seems to only fit the newer fj white top**
A: It will fit the TRD Edition also.  The measurements for the 2007 models are the same for each.  I love the box, it's well made and very easy to install.

Umm... why didn’t I buy this sooner for my FJ?! I always ask myself this now it’s installed. Heavy duty, looks clean, and padding for elbow is super comfy. Note; you need to remove passenger side oem arm rest but driver side arm rest can be reinstalled after. Rubber gasket provided helps to mute sound of closing a little bit. The edges are sharp and lid is heavy. Get your fingers out of the way when closing! Space inside was surprising nice with small compartment in top rear to put pens, small tools, or even driving glasses. Comes with two keys. I’ve had my truck broken into twice in last two years. They always go through center console. This will give a little more peace of mind. The FJ lacks storage and lockable features. This should be a must do mod first thing with an FJ. Price is fair. PERFECT ARMREST/CONSOLE FOR FJ CRUISER! As a big guy, I found myself using the passenger armrest more naturally than the driver side armrest in the FJ, and was more accustomed to a bench seat (truck) console armrest for slouching ... ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great storage box but ....idiot alert!

This thing is great! It adds the space lacking in the FJ. Super strong construction! Install was easy. The instructions are clear. Works great! There are only 2 things that are cons: 1. It takes significant force to push the release button. I,had no problem but someone with weak hand strength might need to use the left hand to push the button for better leverage. This is what happens when you build a box with the strength of this box; a weaker construction would open easier but not be nearly as secure. 2. DO NOT reach into the box while the vehicle is moving. If it is open and you hit the brakes suddenly, the lid could clamp shut with a lot of force and could guillotine your hand or fingers. The edges are not sharp but are narrow and will concentrate the force. When stopped open the box, do what you need, close the box, then drive. A cheaper, lighter box would not have this problem. Who wants that? Maybe a lid gas shock fixes this but there goes the price and you lose space! My advice: Accept the above cons, buy the box, watch your ass (and hand), when driving, just drive!
