Review: A DIY insulation kit for garage doors that WORKS - Easy light weight heat/cold barrier for Clopay metal garage door in Florida. I bought two boxes to cover my two car garage door. I was concerned about the heat and cold that is in the garage in summer and in winter here in Fort Myers Florida. I was very concerned about stressing my garage door opener with added weight on the door. These panels are light weight and do the job. I can tell you that I get really sweaty in the summer and my fingers get stiff from cold in the winter when I work in my garage shop. The Reach Barrier kit arrived within a few days. I used one morning to measure and cut all panels (21' x 24'). I placed the panels in each section of my two car garage door. I was easy to fold and slide each panel into place. That took about two hours for me, a guy who is 81 years young! Next day the easy part of peeling sticky squares (one of my FAVORITE tasks LOL), to place the squares on the door, then press the panel onto each sticky. I put two at the top of a panel at each side and pressed. Then one sticky at the bottom middle of each panel. You can see how each panel had cross members on the garage door. The insulation was tough and could be maneuverd to do the sticky squares with no problems. Rubbing alcohol was easy to prep for sticky placement. Please bear with me and stick it out on this review. You will be happy if your garage faces East or West. I measured the temperatures 12 hours after final installation. I took readings from inside and outside of my home. I am attaching photos. #1 = outside temp is 42.6 F at 1:30 AM. #2 = my home inside thermostat is 74 degrees F. #3 = inside my home in a room closest to the garage is 72.4 F. I placed a sensor in the middle garage that read 66.0 F. I can walk barefoot in the garage at 1:30 AM! I placed a hand one the door in the afternoon sun and felt heat...then placed my hand on the installed barrier...there was a NOTICABLE temperature difference. I highly recommend this company and product. I wish that I had installed the panels four years ago when I bought this home! I plan on adding a follow-up temperature comparison this coming summer, when garage tempertures are easily 20 degrees higher that outside afternoon sun!
