## Description

A couple's preteen son and daughter inexplicably reappear after being lost overnight on a desolate, cave-riddled mountainside. Becoming withdrawn and beginning to exhibit strange behavior, their parents quickly assume something sinister happened to them while missing and alone. But after hearing an ominous local legend the concerned mother and father begin to realize that their children may have fallen prey to something inhuman - and that this dark, unstoppable evil has now returned home with them.

Review: Yes, a slow burn, but never boring. - That is if you don't mind dialogue and story development. This story starts off with a bang and then simmers down to bring us slowly into the mystery of events unfolding. The aesthetics are a fascinating blend of grindhouse, giallo and, well, trippy hallucinogenic devil movie stuff. The soundtrack is spot on and never distracting. Yes, there were moments of gratuitous sex, but that felt appropriate to the subject matter. Let's just say that there's some clever editing that makes it an important part of the story it's telling. To tell you what I think it added to the story would be a little too revealing, (so to speak), so if you can keep an open mind about it, perhaps you'll see what I mean. I also compare this to "House of the Devil" but the style never trumps substance and therefore never gets boring, which was my main problem with HOTD. I give it a 5 because I gave HOTD 4 and I do believe this was better. It IS arthouse/thinking person horror, not slasher or torture porn or horror com, so keep that in mind before renting. For those open to this kind of horror film, it is creepy. as. hell.
Review: Another great premise marred by poor execution - The movie starts with a very graphic lesbian sex scene, and just heads downhill from there. Seriously, such a great premise rarely seen in horror these days, and it is left to the hands of an amateur writer/director. It seems as if we are watching him go through puberty in this film, and every scene screams of someone who needs a few more years as an apprentice. The acting was mostly great (save for the young boy who seems to want to laugh during every scene he is in), and some of the special effects seem to be handled by someone whom is at least competent. But the grind house aesthetic and the overt sexualization of the female cast leaves a very sour taste in my mouth. Do not watch unless you want to see what a student film looks like.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Simply Amazing
*by J***N on January 20, 2014*

If you're a fan of Adrián García Bogliano, and you've seen either "Penumbra" or "Cold Sweat," you will absolutely be blown away by this stylish possession feature that shows Bogliano's growth as a storyteller and highlights his signature style. "Here Comes the Devil" is his best film to date. It's unpredictable, shocking and wholly original. To know too much going in is to ruin the bounty of surprises that wait to be discovered. This one is a must-see.
