## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does this have single-player story mode?**
A: Yes, I suppose so. it takes you through both the good and evil campaigns in both the galactic civil war and the clone war, but each only includes a few choice battles (ie: geonosis, hoth, yavin 4). if you're hoping for a more in-depth single player campaign, I'd buy Battlefront 2 instead

**Q: The battlefront games dont have any cussing right???**
A: no there are no cussing in this game I own all of them.. they r fun

**Q: Is it ntsc? Can I play it on my north American ps2**
A: You can play it on American ps2

**Q: Is this better than the crap EA version?**
A: Yeah. It doesn't have online anymore, of course. There are more maps to play and a decent campaign that goes over the major events of the movies 1-6. Honestly it's not bad but it's more worth it for Star Wars enthusiast or for people who want to just have it in their collection. Star Wars Battlefront 2 improves in every major area of the first one with the edition of space battles, Jedi/Sith gameplay, a better campaign and a more complex galactic conquest mode. Battlefront 1 is better than the EA Battlefront but I, (like most people who have played all of them) would recommend Battlefront if you can get it used for $20 or less.

Very Fun Game for the Occasional Play, but Drags very Quickly with Frequent Play

*by C***R on Reviewed in the United States on June 28, 2012*

Overall, this is a pretty fun game (especially if you can play with more than one person, either via online or with somebody else sitting right next to you), and will give you hours upon hours of great gaming; that is, if you use it right. Before I get to that though, the Pros and Cons:Pros:You can play as the Empire, the CIS, the Rebels, or the Clones, and on most battlefields you can choose any team you want to play as (choices are limited on Hoth, Endor, Kamino, and Geonosis)Each team has their own "classes" for doing specialized work on the battlefield (I'll get to more on that later)Each team has their own special class, that no other team has, and that usually is overall better than the restThere are 16 battlefields, and a lot of these you'll find hard to resistThere are three gameplay modes; Historical Campaign (this follows the lines of real movies story), Galactic Conquest (this is where you start out with 2 planets, the enemy does also, and two planets are "contested" meaning you "own" half of it and so does the enemy; each planet you completely own gives you a bonus you can use before starting a battle, but you only get to use one bonus at a time. After winning a certain amount of battles [4] you get to choose a planet to destroy/take over, and the enemy loses that planet. After you've captured all of those planets, you then have to take the final base, and win that battle, and you have conquered the galaxy. This is recommended to play with friends or online), and Instant Action (this is where you just choose what battlefield you want to play in and what team you want to play as, nothing special)There are three difficulty modes; easy, medium, and hard (although you can still usually win on hard, even if you aren't an expert third-person shooter gamer)The music is all from the movies, and good at that!In some ways, this game is MORE fun than Star Wars Battlefront II. Even though in that game, you can play as a jedi/sith (to an extent), this game has the BEST battlefields. In Star Wars Battlefront II, they literally cut out the BEST battlefields of this game and replaced them with more battlefields, that weren't nearly as fun. Also, in Star Wars Battlefront II, you can do space fights, but on those battles, that's pretty much it, fight in space. In this one, the "space" fights are more on the planet (Bespin Platforms is a good example, and even though it was my favorite battlefield, it was not included in SWB2), so you can quickly switch from piloting your favorite craft to fighting on the ground like everybody else.Cons:Some people say the AI is awful. This does apply in many cases, but doesn't mean the game isn't fun. This game will wear out your PS2 much faster than other games, as it is constantly reading stuff all over the discIf you were to play the game for 2+ hours a day, for a month, you'd be bored of this game and probably throw it away. Play it less often, and you'll enjoy it a lot longer.I doubt you can go online anymore, but you can still play with your friend sitting next to youYou can NOT play as a jedi, which is somewhat aggravating to a lot of people (the two closest ways of playing as a jedi are: using a cheat/code that allows you to watch the "demo" camera, that shows different people doing things, from a third person perspective, and if you're lucky the camera will show a jedi/sith, and the other way is to use a cheat that supposedly makes you Darth Vader by pressing buttons in the correct order in a ship, flying, on Bespin Platforms [the most fun battlefield in my opinion], but actually makes your ship explode)Loading times are not short, and take at least 20 seconds; however this is much shorter than in Star Wars Battlefront IIYou can't select how many AI you want on the battlefield at one time, nor can you select the "reinforcement count" you start out withThe jedi are nearly impossible to kill, unless you know what you are doing; however this can be a pro if you like the additional challenge of killing themThis game is not glitch free, and you may find yourself kicking your PS2 (I advise against this though)Classes:Infantry: Can be utilized by all teams. Great at short-mid range, mediocre at long range, and awful at very long range. Has no real weaknesses, but the only advantage is that you'll be able to easily kill enemies within your short-mid range, and quickly capture command posts.Sniper: Can be utilized by all teams. Awful at short range, mediocre at mid range, and great at long-very long range. The weakness is that this unit is awful at real combat, and if you find yourself surrounded by enemies, don't expect to survive. Also, this unit can't really damage vehicles very much. However, the advantages are that this unit can hide away, safe from enemy fire, and snipe the enemy. Also, the sniper has a recon droid that can be used to scout the enemy's actions/whereabouts, while you're safe behind a wall. You can press a button, wait for the gauge to charge (without losing your droid's health from enemy fire), and giant lasers will pummel the place from above; however, this does not work inside buildings.Artillery: Can be utilized by all teams. Regarding enemy units, this unit is pretty bad at most ranges, and is prone to dying. Regarding vehicles, this unit is great from short-long range, but awful at long range. This unit's weakness is that they are bad at real combat from all ranges (unless there are a lot of enemies clustered within firing range; you can quickly dispatch them with a well aimed shot). One advantage with this unit, is its ability to lock on to enemy vehicles, and fire a homing missile at them, that takes out a lot of health. Also, they can lay down mines in strategic locations, so that any enemy, whether unit or vehicle, will take damage (units will be destroyed completely, and vehicles take a lot of ddamage).Pilots: Can be utilized by all teams. Depending on what team you play as, this unit can be good at different ranges. The Clone pilot is mediocre at short range, and awful at mid-very long ranges. The CIS and Empire pilots are mediocre at short range, great at mid-range, mediocre at long range, and awful at very long range. The Rebel pilot is great at short range, mediocre at mid range, and awful at long-very long ranges. Pilots are definitely not meant for combat, but that's because they're more for defense than offense. Pilots have health packs, and if the pilot, or a nearby unit is low on health, they can release one and whoever steps on it gets a boost in health and ammo. They also have a fusion cutter, which allows them to heal/restore vehicles/turrets/droids with under 100% health, and he can also repair vehicles while in the air, making him a real pilot. If you take damage in a vehicle, you will slowly regenerate its health (not fast by any means, but definitely helps).Jet-Pack Trooper: Can only be utilized by the Clones. This unit is mediocre at short range, great at mid-long range, and awful at very long range. The main disadvantage of the jet-pack trooper, is that they have less health (I believe), and they are awful against vehicles. However, their main advantage is that they have...well...a jet-pack, and they can fly good distances, but then they have to drop and reload their "fuel". This can be great for getting to command posts early on, and for sneaking through enemy ranks. Their main weapon is also great against the next unit I will mention, droidekas. Their weapon is almost as powerful as the artillery's (against units, not vehicles), and has a shorter reload time. You will find that you use this unit a lot when you play as the Clones.Droideka: Can only be utilized by the CIS. This unit is mediocre at short range, great at mid range, mediocre at long range, and awful at very long range. The main disadvantage of this unit, is that if you are in your upright position, you move very slowly, but if you are rolled up in your "fast" position, you are vulnerable to enemy fire. However, this unit has a shield it can deploy, and be protected from enemy attacks until its shield wears out (and will then need to regenerate it). This unit can move very fast through friendly and enemy ranks alike, but it can't deploy it's shield while in "fast" position, and is therefore vulnerable to enemy fire. This unit also has rapid fire dual lasers/blasters, and can quickly destroy enemies. Unfortunately, you'll find that the AI can control this unit much better than you can, and you won't use it too often.Dark trooper: Can only be utilized by the Empire. This unit is mediocre at short range, great at mid range, mediocre at long range, and awful at very long range. This unit also does not have a lot of health, like the Jet-pack trooper. This unit is much like the rebel pilot, only he has grenades, and no fusion cutter or health packs, so he isn't really good for offense (or defense). However, he has a jet-pack, but it's not nearly as good as the jet-pack trooper's. He can fly in one direction for a mid distance, and then he comes back down, and his fuel takes a long time to reload. You'll only use this unit for getting to places a bit quicker than other units, but he really isn't ideal for offense.Wookie: Can only be utilized by the Rebels. This unit is mediocre at short range, great at mid-long range, and mediocre at very long range. This unit's three disadvantages are that it is slower than the other units, a bigger target for enemy fire, and more prone to running out of ammo before the battle is over. However, this unit has at least an extra 15%-20% health, making him harder to kill, and more "durable". He can fall for greater distances, take more enemy fire, survive a grenade from a shorter distance, take three non-head sniper shots instead of two like normal units, etc. His main weapon, the bow caster, is ideal for all ranges (especially mid-long). You hold down the fire button, and charge it up, and fire up to 7 shots at one time, in a line (not like a shotgun, more controlled), and deal damage to multiple enemies. Or you can fire one at a time, rapidly. His other main weapon, the grenade launcher, is great for enemies in mid range, and can take out a lot of enemies if aimed correctly. This weapon can also be used at short range, but is not recommended as if you are in the blast radius, it will send you flying, and you won't be able to control your character (and if friendly fire is on, you might die). This unit also has time bombs, which are ideal for sticking to vehicles or turrets. Unfortunately, they have a 10 second timer, and takes a long time to go off, but the result is usually worth it.Summary:This is a really fun game, and if you don't play it too often (as in more than once a week), you will enjoy it for months, or even years. Definitely worth the money (used).

A classic, but not as sound as the sequel

*by B***S on Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2022*

Being able to play a no-name stormtrooper was always fascinating, but when you get the chance to play as a Jedi or Sith, it is absolutely fantastic. The story is just clips from the prequels and follows where the movie goes as the settings for the maps, but the second game does it much better and keeps the gameplay in tact.

    Great Game

I had a copy as a kid but the center of it became damaged and I was afraid to use it so after searching I came across this copy and couldn’t be happier. The disc looks brand new and the game works flawlessly. My only complaint would be the case was covered in stickers and a sticky residue but I have been able to clean most of it off with soap and water.
