The first catapulting was autonomous, scaring a couple of children. The next catapulting was stopped only by a wall in another room and a poor old blind dog that didn't know what hit her who immediately decided outdoors would be a far safer bet. It launches the balls mega far and my 8 year old really likes it. He needed a bit of help constructing it, but could do a lot of it on his own. My only gripe is that it tends to fall apart in some areas after using it a bit. We launched a few balls and a piece popped off because of the stress the heavy duty rubber bands put on the catapult. We actually assembled it and walked away and when we came back a few pieces had popped off which is kind of frustrating.
