Don't see why it wouldn't perform well for shot charge, just haven't tried it Advantage besides price is that it's so light weight that I didn't permanently mount it to the bench. Mounted it on a short section of 2x4 and clamped the 2x4 to the bench. I use this on the same 4 foot bench that has my Hornady LNL and powder scale, and I have the room I need to get the job done easily. Then when I want to load brass on the LNL, I just unclamp the Lee. I go through about a box a week, figure the season up here is 7 months or about 30 weeks, this summer will pay for the loader for no extra outlay of cash vs. buying factory, next summer will be saving money. **Q: Is everything in the photo included? Does it come with 6 and 8 point crimp starters?** A: it doesn't come with the auto primer loader, its about $20.00 + shipping. but don't order it, it doesn't work well. instead use the single one that comes with it and poor the primers out on your working table, and press the empty hull onto it then to the next step which knocks of the shapper and loads the primer into the hull. it does come with the 6 and 8 point start crimp. i have also taken the 6 crimp hull and used the 8 crimp and it works well. Best hulls to use are Remington gun club and sts. hope it helps. i've loaded about 5000 shells. I can load 25 hulls in 8 to 10 minutes **Q: can you use black powder in this** A: No, You can't use BP in this as plastic is prone to static charges but you wouldn't want to on a MEC or Dillon either. If you want to load BP shells, you can use all portions of this press but you'll want to add your powder in a separate operation whether it be scooped or dropped from a dedicated brass BP powder dropper. Don't let the scaredy cats turn you off from BP shooting! lol **Q: Where do i buy the primer holder for this? Do they sell on amazon? The machine works great and with a little bit of rhythm, you can start cranking out some nicely crimped 12GA rounds. Set up is pretty easy. Did not take long to mount to my bench. Not a lot of torque when using the device, so it does not have to be on a super strong platform. Here are a few thing to note when getting going. 1. Depending on your powder, make sure to get a digital scale. The bushings, the data from the load books, do not always match. Mine have been consistently way under grain weight. For the time being, I am weighing every 5 rounds for consistency. I bought this scale: Frankford Arsenal Reloading Scale . Inexpensive and accurate!! 2. Make sure your hulls, wads,primers, and powder match. (the data book has good information to match things up) (learned the hard way) 3. Make sure the crimps (folds) are facing you when you do the pre-crimp and the final crimp. They will work perfect. 4. Spend some time watching You Tube videos. Great information out there!! 5 Be safe, and enjoy! I had to contact Lee\s customer service to figure out what I was doing wrong at first. Very quick reply from them and they helped me figure out the issue. Great service. I highly recommend this device! Is also very cheap to swap over to 20GA and others.
