Good study guide to use along side the book for small group study
Helps as supplement to the actual book if you're leading a small group study over the material, the actual book is an interesting read as well. Really drives the point home that the "heroes" of the bible were ordinary people, some times even reprobates, for lack of a better term, but God can work for good in all things. Creating the beautiful, the unexpected, and the amazing out of the ordinary and even the rejected is a sign of the Power and divinty of God, and the hand of the almighty at work.

Not the study guide! But nonetheless, still a great read.
As for the book, I love the subject and content material. This was a great read and good spiritual growth for me. In fact, I'm leading a Bible study group with this book starting on Thursday and definitely looking forward to it.However, I came to the hardcover version from a study guide search. I found the paperback version of the study guide, but saw there was a hardcover option as well. But this is for the actual book and not the study guide. So please be forewarned if you are looking for the study guide (as I was).

Bible version of Chicken Soup for the Soul (in my humble opinion)
We just finished this as a Wednesday night Bible study course at our church. AWESOME! I have long been a fan of Pastor MacArthur, but this book is so real, so down-to-earth that if you never have read anything of his, this is the one! This book has changed the lives of several in our Bible study group and it WILL change your opinion of yourself and others as you study it...

Excellent Scripture based
It was well written and based on the Scripture's account. The choice of Biblical characters was a great inspiration for all of us who love reading God's word. As I read the accounts it reminded me that God can use each of us today to accomplish his purposes to bring glory to His name. Praise Him for His faithfulness to each of us.

Unlikely Heroes - Normal people doing God's work God's way. Amazing information and encouragement.
Worked through this book in a small group Bible study setting. It is amazing. When you wonder whether or not God can use you, read this book. When you can't believe WHO God used - regular people, people who struggled with life, people who hurt other people - READ this book.Excellent format for group or individual study.

Give it a chance
You know the saying don't judge a book by the cover, don't judge a book by it's first chapter in this case. Enoch was a hard chapter, I regretted by the book, but the later chapters were so much better. Please note if you have heard his sermons on this series, the book doesn't give you any thing new. And many if not all the sermons are free on GTY.org

Great Adult Class Study
We are using this book in an Adult School Class. Most of the Heroes are little known Bible characters who through a study of them can bring learning and encouragement to class members. The book is thorough, interesting to read and helpful for people looking to grow in their relationship with Christ through the study of Biblical characters.

Wonderful reading
I recommend this book whether you are a believer or not. The stories are great and uplifting. Written by John MacArthur, a respected and beloved Bible teacher with a deep love for God and a solid knowledge of His Word. Read this book. It will inspire you!

Great examples... but hard work.
I've just finished reading this and I am not really sure why but I struggled to get through the book, and I'm quite happy I have finished it!Don't get me wrong the content was good and biblical (of course! It's written by MacArthur) and there were a few parts of the book that encouraged and inspired me, but for some reason I just didn't find it that interesting and if I am honest I actually found it boring most of the time! Which makes me feel bad because it's a book about men and women who were faithful heroes of Christianity.I wouldn't recommend it, but it's not going to hurt if you read it - I think that perhaps I am just too use to reading Chuck Swindoll's wonderful character studies!
