(other brand says max sd is 128 gb)** A: First off, an SD card won't work in a QXD slot and vice versa. It's the speed that a QXD card works at that makes it expensive. If your camera is taking JPEG pictures your SD card will work OK at 5 pictures a second. Most professionals take two pictures at once. One RAW to publish and a companion JPEG to easily view. With a pro camera pack you can take these at 9 frames a second. If you take 200 pictures as fast as the camera can work you don't have the speed with an SD card. I personally use the TIFF format for my pictures (140,000 KB's plus) at 5 frames a second as these are just for my personal use. It makes my post production much easier as I don't need an expensive computer program. I can easily take 1,000 pictures at a kids ball game. If I end up with a handful of perfect pictures I'm satisfied. You just erase the 995 pictures you didn't use. **Q: Would this reader allow me to recover deleted files via a recovery software on my Windows laptop if the software doesn't recognize my camera ?** A: You would only need this reader if you were using a QXD card. I would assume any SD card reader would work with an SD card. I have a Nikon D-850. I can either connect the camera OR a reader to a computer with the correct software to restore images. Data on a card is still there until it is over ridden or the card is formatted. XQD slot - the card goes label up. *by P***R on October 3, 2023* The XQD card goes in label up (so it faces you), but the SD card goes in the opposite way... label down (facing away from you).I was putting both cards (XQD & SD) into the reader with the label up (labels facing me) and the XQD card went in fine but the SD card would not go into it's slot. I didn't want to force it in so I showed it to my husband.He looked into the reader slot and saw that the pins went upward in the SD slot so he flipped the SD card over (label down) & it then went into the slot with no problem. He said the manufacturer mounted both memory card connectors on opposite sides of the same PCB so one is upside down.
