## Description

The Omnigrid 2 ½ x 8 ruler R258) is a convenient, portable size for classes or keeping next to your sewing machine. It features 45 degree angle markings for bias cuts and cross cutting strata strips. Omnigrid heavy-duty acrylic rulers have patented double sight lines, making the grid lines easy to see on light and dark fabrics. Made in the USA.

Review: good starting ruler for a somewhat inexperienced quilter - My old fabric marking ruler was flimsy and the top layer of plastic was peeling off (unfortunately, that is what had the numbers printed on it...) so I ordered this as a replacement. It is miles above my old one in terms of quality -- much thicker/sturdier/more rigid, and doesn't appear that it would ever have the peeling problem. This is a great size. I have a pattern I am making from which I needed to cut something 18 inches long, and since this is 24 inches long, I can do that easily. I am mostly using black fabric for that project, and you can put this over black fabric and see the lines. But you can *also* put it over light colored fabric and see the lines, since the grid is in two colors. I don't mind that the colors are black and yellow; both are easy enough for me to see (and I don't have great vision). I am a little afraid of rotary cutters so I mostly use this for drawing lines with (washable) fabric marking pencils. But it is rigid enough and thick enough that it should be just fine with a rotary cutter running along next to it. I am of a low enough experience level that I am sticking with squares and rectangles for now, and this is more than sufficient for those purposes. This does not have a non-slip surface (and no rubber feet) so you will have to put some pressure on it while cutting or marking. But it did not slide for me. (It helps to have a stable, flat work surface. Use the dining room table instead of a TV tray, for example.) Anyway, this is miles above what I had before and it is easy to use, so I am happy.

Packaged well and arrived with no damage. It's always a gamble with fragile items. I love omnigrid rulers. This one is the perfect length for cutting a width of fabric folded in half. Doesn'tnslip, very accurate measurements, easy to put in my tote for retreats. Very easy to read and has all necessary markings.
