The idea is that when the two mirrors are at exactly 90 degrees, you will see a seamless, perfect reflection of yourself. However, if it's off slightly, you will notice it more at a distance than up close. in regards to the amazing revelation part - a lot of times we tend to stare at ourselves in mirrors because long ago as kids we unconsciously realized that our expressions don't look and feel natural, so we stopped doing them.
