Any surprises when trying to replace the Super E shorty?** A: Yes it is. It has the Adjustable air bleed like the newer S&S carbs and is ready for thunderjet if you choose. So far I havent seen any downsides **Q: Will this fit on my 2000 honda shadow 600 vlx?** A: Short answer probably not. It possibly can be done, but you need an intake and not sure they're made for Honda, maybe a spacer, new air cleaner at a minimum. I would pass on the job in my shop. **Q: Will this fit my 96 heritage?** A: It should work with minimal adjustments, but you will probably need to change the intake manifold to a S&S style manifold, and include the insulator block keeping in mind the thickness of the insulator block to get the right “fit” of whatever aftermarket air breather/cover that you use to get the right distance from your tank. Also the push pull throttle cables...just need to be mindful if your existing cables will work or will need to replace. I installed on a ‘66 Shovel stroker motor, and did all of the above, replacing a Bendix, with very minor adjustments....the only issue I had was that the bowl plug o-ring seal would not keep the fuel from seeping...tried numerous seals and gaskets and finally came up with a resolution to stop the fuel leak. Fired up right out of the box. I bumped up the idle and its sounds great without even touching the air adjustment. Its a project bike so I'm waiting to tweek it better after I get the bike together. The R-2 carb has several improvements over the original S&S version and it ran pretty good straight out of the box.
