This is what he recommended and let me tell you, I am so glad I bought this! He called this a swim trainer, you remove one floatation block at a time until they are swimming on their own. Unlike a puddle jumper, this allows their arms to be free and actually learn a paddling motion. I never let her swim freely in the pool with this on without me closely by for safety reasons. But I do like the fact we've gone from 4 stacked blocks to 2 in a matter of weeks (less buoyancy). So she's slowly getting a feel on how to swim.
