Review: Good powerful solenoid - This solenoid really packs a punch and is ok with a higher voltage (I am using 50V in a 40ms pulse every 2.4 seconds). It will overheat and burn out or even cause a fire if activated for too long at a time so be warned. It is only good for a very low duty cycle. It was perfect though for operating a bell striking mechanism for an electrically driven clock which now strikes the hours loud and clear. I had tried other solenoids but none could operate it satisfactorily. It has an O ring on one end which cushions it but I had to fit one the other end too. The brass nut has a locknut behind it and also has thread locking compound on it too so care is needed when undoing it but it didn’t put up much resistance to being undone.
Review: Reasonable power - Stronger than many out there but obviously a bit more expensive. Any sort of resistance is generally a problem. Suitable for homemade hot-wheels starting gates.

**Q: what is the thread size. thank you**

**Q: What thread size is the end?**
A: The end is my ok for push no good for pull

**Q: this is wired to a 12 volt 4 amp 40 watt transformer but is triggering multiple times (50 per minute). What are we doing wrong?**
A: It needs an 8 or 10 amp power supply, the inrush current is initially very high when it first turns on. If you have it on a lower current supply, the supply will be overloaded and shut down to protect itself, then turn on again, then shut down and repeat until you turn it off.

**Q: Is it possible to have this rested in the extended position? I would like power on to retract. Thank you**
A: If you turn the solenoid round the spring extended end remains out but with little holding power. When powered the solenoid extends with a good holding force but gets hot very quickly. The maximum cycle time recommended is 2 seconds.
