BH1 ProMediaGear Professional Ball Head with Arca-Type Clamp

Ball head has no equal as far as I'm concerned. I prefer it to RRS (Really Right Stuff) because the main ball tightening knob is easier to use. That said, I don't care for the lens foot Arca-Swiss tightener. I like the RRS latch better. Don't waste your time on lesser brands - this is definitely worth the money. Holds my camera and 800mm lens at odd angles. Is it perfect? No. There is a small amount of creep when tightening, so astrophotography can be frustrating. But all ball heads do this, so I live with it.

The CNC machining quality is really nice! I am also suprised that the ball head can provide a such high load capacity of 50LB with this ball diameter not over 45mm. However, here also are some minor improvement should be expected in the future. First, the bag for this BH-1 is too soft to protect this precisely CNC machined product, and a nylon padded protective bag with a sufficient thickness can be an alternate choice for a buyer willing to pay an additionally few bucks to get more protection. Second, the semi-spherical shell, laid down horizontally toward a side direction and encompassing the ball, lacks an independent lock control mechanism so it cannot vertically tilt with the ball tightly locked in an unrotated state, which is a pity. More independent control mechanisms should be considered maybe in ver. 2 of this product in order to release its 100% potential. Third, a stronger and non-detachable stainless steel cylinder should be considered to be put in the bottom of BH-1, as designed in PMG BH-50. The current 5/8'' to 3/8" busher should be barely stronger enough but is also easily screwed off and detached inadvertently from BH-1. Fourth, Promediagear (PMG) should put more product lines to Amazon online store because too less products of PMG can be picked here, Amazon is a very well internationally trading and both-parties-highly trusted online platform and PMG should use it better.

I love that I don't have to use two control knob. Easy to change the camera into a portrait orientation. The only thing that would have been nice is if there was a levered flip release clamp like the RRS BH-55.
