Perfect introduction/review of Roman Numerals
My son (6) loves numbers and this was the best Roman Numerals book I found for his age group on the market. Although we don't see Roman Numerals very often in our area of the country, the book has been useful for understanding a different set of math rules, and of course, is fun to a young child becasue they feel like they are learning a secret code! This book has has easy explanations with a nice chart at the end/back cover for review and fun pictures. We have been on the hunt for Roman Numerals all over town.My son has been drawing his family and friends' birthday cards with their ages in Roman Numerals!I'd definitely recommend this book if your child has an interest in math/encoding and you have been looking for an age-appropriate introduction to Roman Numerals.

Math Concepts made Readable.
I got this as a supplement for homeschool math for third and fourth grade. It attempts to make light of Roman Numerals and teach them in a simplistic way. They use real life examples to teach about Roman Numerals, and it helps that the ideas aren't totally abstract.I am an Edward Miller fan. My complaint with this book is the same of this duo's book on fractions - sometimes those fun illustrations bely some content that is tough when you bite off your first chunk. There are a few pages when there is just so much information - words! Numbers! And at the same time, it's saying, "look, it's easy!" I found myself thinking, "No! It's not!"Since this is an illustrated children's book, the temptation is to read it cover to cover in a sitting, and that is what we did the first time. This turned out to be a bit much, though. It would probably work best read over the course of a few days to let the material sink in without getting overwhelming.
