It's well-built and sturdy and we felt the price was very fair. We especially liked that the high 4-sided fence allowed us to more readily apply multiple security measures to deter theft. We had only one problem: the front fence opens at a forward downward angle, and in our particular case we would need to occasionally lift the generator out for maintenance - but the physics in this scenario allowed us no leverage to lift that 100lb beast since it was required to be dead center for weight & balance. We were bummed that we had to call it a deal-breaker for our planned use. But for the standard usage of hauling suitcases, coolers, etc.... that high fence would be perfect. Review: Great addition to road trips - Great product. I've been using it for three years without issue. Carries kids bikes and a variety of other bulky items with ease, leaving room inside for more important cargo. Folds up flat for storage. I keep a few bungee cords with it all the time to secure the load and to keep it folded up when not on use. They also serve as a place to keep the corner pins with the carrier. Overall this is a valuable addition to the road tripping family. But I suppose you could fold one side down and then set a generator on top of that to have access, but I wouldn't recommend transporting it that way. No Drilling **Q: I have a 2017 gmc terrain similar to the chevy equinox - does the hatch clear the cage when opening?** A: You have to put the sides of the cargo carrier down for it to clear when opening the hatch. The hatch will not clear when the cargo carrier sides are up - when hauling cargo. I have a suburban.
