Which I still am of course!!! But Sylas! I've gotten my High and loved every damn bit of it. There's so much to this story that will have you reeling with emotions out of control you won't know what to do with yourself. The devastation that Sy has went through broke my heart. No one should have to go through what he did. Then Holly, #shit what can I say about her situation that it hit way close to home for me. I had cried so hard that it caused me to stop reading for a day so I could get my #shit together.Sy in the beginning with Holly is a number 1 #asshole the way he kept pushing her away but yet came back again. Nothing like getting banged up against the wall and walking out leaving her naked and alone, confused and hurt. I wanted to hate him for doing that but knowing what he's went through I understood why! Then #shit hits the fan with Holly and man did she change for awhile hiding behind a facade that Sy knew was nothing but a lie. He couldn't understand what she was hiding from him. He thought it was because of the trauma she went through from the shooting but it was soooooooooooooooooooooo much more than he could even imagined. Once Sy finds out he loses it and feels betrayed by her at first. I didn't know if they could pull themselves back together again.Nothing like reading the Prologue of the book and the 1st thing you have to do is stop to take a breather and catch your breath with wiping your snotty nose and runny eyes. One minute your in a chapter laughing out loud go to the next chapter and your like well #fuck me! Grabbing the tissues and wiping your eyes and snotty nose. The one chapter had me quitting the book for a day so I could get myself together because it did effect me. I love books that can pull you out like that and River seemed to hit the nail on the head dead center with that damn hammer cause she left me in a book hangover that I still haven't read another book now for 3 days. SMH!!!!!!! Great job sweets!!!!! I can't wait for Jesse!!!!! Wooooooo I think she's going to kill us all before this is over with! Ok so some of ya know I am going to type some of my favorite parts of the book! I can't help myself I have these bad boys HIGHLIGHTED and MARKED!!!!! :)HOLLY: Tell him? God, I wish I could just let it all come out, but i'm just so caught up in my darkness I don't know how to let anyone in. Not even the one person I should be letting in. And that shames me each day, knowing what I hide from him.SYLAS: Instead, I focus on what she doesn't want people to see: the darkness prevailing. It threatens to send her into oblivion, one I know about all to well, I've had years to perfect the facade she's now putting on show for the world to see, but she's so absentminded and lost in her own thoughts she doesn't even realize how obvious it is.HOLLY: The dynamics of our relationship is unlike what I've ever had before, but I know what Sy offers is what I need. He gives me permission to not be okay, to struggle and fall, and in return, I surrender. I allow him to take the lead and guide me back because it it weren't for Sy, I'd still be sitting in the dark, exhausted, and fighting alone.SYLAS: I haven't said those three words to a woman since Katie, and even though Katie gave me something irreplaceable, Holly has given me something I didn't know I needed: her light. I look at her and I see something more. She makes me forget about the past, the one where I had it all. She takes the constant ache that lives inside of me and turns it into something I don't deserve.. And when she looks at me, #fuck, when she smiles up at me, everything changes. The old gets lost in the new. Her light shines through my darkness and as I stand here in this moment making love to her against the bathroom counter, I realize my "affliction" doesn't matter. This one hit especially close to home for me so was a little tougher to read but I did love it anyway. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars CAUTION: You will need shares in Kleenex and Energizer by the time you're done reading this book. *by ~***~ on Reviewed in the United States on December 1, 2014* Before I get to my review I have just a little to say about River.I am part of her fabulous River Rebels StreetTeam, and during the process of her writing Affliction, I watched how she struggled emotionally with Sy and Holly's story.I can now finally understand why.River can write pain better than most I know, not just physical but emotional, mental and she does it in a way that you don't just sympathize with them, but you Feel exactly what they are, every raw, brutal, heartbreaking, soul sucking moment.This by far is one of the most touching stories I have Ever read.River, you should be incredibly proud of not just your work, but Yourself.Ok, Sy and HollyAffliction runs alongside of Incandescent on the timeline for most of the time, in Sy and Holly's POV. But does skip back to Sy's past every so often, giving us a taste of who this gorgeous man is and all of the pain he has endured.From the second I met these two in Incandescent, I Knew they were perfect for each other. I loved that crazy, full of life Holly and Sy, the sexy ass bad boy .... Damn I knew there was a lot going on under all that bitterness.Sy has many layers, this brooding bad boy has been dealt a pretty harsh hand at life, shutting people out and not getting emotionally attached is his way of coping. So when a feisty, full of attitude blonde walks into Ink Me with Kadence, he was not expecting to be so effected.Holly want to find out just how much ink this biker has, but gets shot down by his silence, that all changes pretty fast when Sy can not fight his attraction to her.The cat and mouse chasing between these two is funny as hell, Sy and his over the top demands, insane moods and panty-soaking dirty mouth, gets under the skin of the flirty, teasing, #NoShitTaking Holly.In one tragic moment, that vibrant woman is gone, leaving behind a very broken Holly.But what Sy does next, is breathtaking. No matter how hard it is, no matter how broken he is or how much he is pushed away, he stands strong to be there for her, in-turn making both himself and Holly stronger.Watching these two build a friendship, building each other back up is remarkable to say the least, the chemistry is off the charts and when these two unleash all the pent up sexual tension ... Woah!
