Review: Great Solution for Kayaks, and saving your back! - I have had this for three years, and use it to transport one Ocean Kayak Trident 15', and one 12' LL Manta Ray, both sit on tops. I have made many long (4-5 hour) trips, with not only the boats, but about 300#'s of other camping and fishing stuff; pulled by several different vehicles, including a nissan sentra, and it works fantastic, and tracks perfect. Assembly was as expected, just lay out everything first, and I was done in about 2.5 hours. Everything fit, and nothing was missing. A couple of observations after three years of use, none of which detract from the rating, but hopefully useful to make it even better. The front support is a little too floppy, so if you have a heavier load on one side, it will tilt a bit, looks awkward, but does not affect the load security. It would be nice to beef this up by having a brace or perhaps a tie down hook from the outsides to the main frame bar. The back support which straddles the axle bar is bending a bit, chipping the paint and rusting, again still not a problem, but something that could be beefed up, using some thicker tabs. This probably is a result of my heavier loads and long trips, so not necessarily something you may expect on encountering. Wheels and bearings are great thus far, no issues, even after three new england winters (I do block the frame up so the wheels are not on the ground). Also I leave my boats on it year round, with no adverse effects. The spring design works well as a shock absorber, although simplistic, it is very effective. The license plate holder is a bit low, and probably not normally a problem for most, but I store my boats where I have to roll over a standard road curb to hook up, and the plate always hits, and gets bent up. Perhaps offset to the inside, or over the light if it wont interfere with the boat would be better. Lights work fine, just make sure your ground is secure, and dont be worried if you hook them up and they don't work at first without tightening everything down, because you need to tighten the light brackets to get a good ground. I spent a good 20 minutes trying to figure that out. I did get handles to mount to the tongue (two of them), so this makes moving the trailer all loaded up easier. At 50 years old, the days of putting my kayaks on top of the car are done, and this is the lowest price solution I found for a trailer. I bought the spare tire and spare tire mounting bracket.
