Holy hell. I love a good indie film, whether it's well-done, bad, or intentionally bad. I'm thinking this was unintentionally bad. The script is cringe-inducing, the props team clearly has no idea what the insides of humans is supposed to look like, and the actors made me feel dirty. You can make an a+ film on a shoestring budget. These guys chose not to. A bold choice. Let's see how it plays out.PS - Don't come at me with "hurrr some people only like jump scares and explosions." I absolutely adore films so bad they're good. I paid real, actual money dollars to own Bratz the movie, and I've watched it like fifty times. This is unenjoyable on every conceivable level. ### ⭐ A master class in film theory *by R***S on Reviewed in the United States on April 5, 2020* Here's what I learned about filmmaking from watching Clownado:1. Every other shot should be a Dutch angle, whether or not it's appropriate or effective. Don't be timid - feel free to tilt that camera as much as 45° for no reason whatsoever. And flip the angle mid-shot, it really makes viewers nauseous.2. When you shoot your gore effects, do it from about two inches away, and never include a wide shot. Otherwise the audience might be able to figure out what they're looking at.3. Find yourself a screenwriter who has never heard human beings speak. Trust me, it'll pay off.4. If you're making a film about killer clowns, make sure they don't do anything remotely clown-like. I mean, what kind of mileage could you possibly get out of horror gags involving balloon animals, or juggling, or a string of colorful scarves tied together? Can you even imagine a movie about killer clowns, perhaps from outer space, that could pull off such a thing?5. The actor playing your lead villain should be playing a character from a completely different movie. Tell everyone else to play it grounded, but tell that actor to shoot for something between an old Cagney picture and Mark Hamill's Joker.6. Finally, just for fun, have one of your characters be an Elvis impersonator in full costume, and don't pay that off in any way. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A gory good time! *by J***H on Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2019* I was lucky enough to watch a screener back in June. I've been a fan of Todd Sheets' work since the early 2010's and this is by far his best work. He keeps getting better and better with each film. The story was fast paced and fun, the practical effects work was gory as hell and the cast did an overall pretty good job. It's rough around the edges in spots but that's something every indie horror film has and you have to look past that and see the true genuine passion and love put into it.For those who are being nasty and rude towards the cast and crew for this...please stop. Learn a thing or two about what it takes to make a horror movie like this on an extremely small budget. You don't have to like the movie but show them some appreciation for trying to make some entertainment for you. Todd has been out there for decades making movies for almost nothing. He's a true horror fan that doesn't let little to no money stop him from showing you his love for the genre. I wish I could have the career he has.
