Review: One of the greatest live albums in rock, with guest appearance by John Lennon - You don't see this album listed in any of those lists of best live rock albums, but it certainly should be near the top of any such list. A magnificent record of the great Elton John in performance in both London and New York in 1974. Playing tracks from most of his albums up to and including Goodbye Yellow Brick Road it is easy to see why he was, and still is, a superstar. This is mid-seventies stadium rock at its absolute best. powerful, energised and emotional by turns. Great songs, great singing and a magnificent band. Disc one is highlights from the Royal Festival Hall concert in London, while disc two is from Madison Square Garden in New York. This New York concert is very special, of course, because it includes a guest appearance by John Lennon, where he and Elton perform three songs together. I don't think rock music actually gets any better than this.

You don't see this album listed in any of those lists of best live rock albums, but it certainly should be near the top of any such list.
