It doesn't have an odor as such, it's not fumy or anything like that. I used to use Liquin for the same reasons, but I think this is less 'gummy' or 'cloudy'? I'm not sure how to describe the differences, but this is working for my purposes now. I would say, don't leave the lid off the bottle or pour out more than you need for a session, or it will just be wasted. I have not mixed large amounts of paint with this, just canvases between 9x12,-24x36, sizes, and not impastos, I do thin layers to medium thick swatches for the most part, pretty standard average thickness pictures. I'm still learning but this things out the paint very nicely and leaves a glossy finish. Also increases drying time! A small bottle will last you a while as you don't need too much. I just dip the wood part of my paint brush into it and then right to my paint pallet.
