Review: Compact decent capacity coffee brewer for a reasonable price. - Making a good cup of Coffee for me as it is for many, a very serious morning event. I do not take it lightly. So as you can see from my short video, I am not afraid to invest in the process. But I’d like to think there are points of diminishing returns and that’s how I approached this purchase. You can spend mega bucks on a coffee brewer, but does that insure the best experience, the best end result. So I wanted an attractive, easy to use brewer that would not take up more counter space than necessary, and not break the bank. Enter the Cuisinart brewer. It is not the cheapest but it is far from the most expensive. I buy my coffee beans from a local roaster, grind my own coffee, and primarily drink light to medium roasted coffees. The Cuisinart once ordered was delivered within a couple days. Package was undamaged, it was double boxed. The brewer was easy to unpack and setup. I ran a pot of water through the brewer just to flush things out. Then brewed up a 8 cup pot. 8 cups really means about 4 decent sized coffee mugs of coffee. I used a tbs of coffee per cup for the brewing process. Using the Cuisinart was fairly straight forward. A series of buttons across the front panel gives you your brewing options and the tiny clock is surrounded by another series of buttons to set time, adjust the tone, and adjust the temp of the hot plate (low, medium, high). Inside the brewer once you lift the top lid, is a basket holding a reusable metal mesh filter. Be aware that the basket is all plastic and after you lift it out, must be set back into its proper position. You cannot just drop it in place. There is an ample opening to add your water. You must exercise some care in filling the coffee maker. The side of the coffee maker has a volume capacity indicator. The glass pot is nicely designed but careful as the glass may not be the most resistant to breaking, it is on the thin side. I’ve been using #4 paper filters for my brewing. Seems to work just fine. Now as for the brewing process, you can set a timer for automatic start or use the center button to initiate a start. I’ve done both, works well. As for the end product…..the brewed coffee is very good. Much will depend on what coffee you actually use and the quality of your water. Oh, and there is a charcoal filter for water filtration. It is found on the left interior side on the end of extended plastic piece. Not sure what else I can add here only to say that the machine does its job and the end result is good. For less than $100, money well spent.
Review: Great coffee maker! - This is a great coffee maker. Makes perfect coffee . Easy to use and program makes 1 to 14 cups in about 15 min. Comes with a reusable filter .Very easy to clean and pot pours smoothly. Only downfall is the top of the carafe does not flip up like others so you have to fill it through the hole. Other than that I really like it. Looks beautiful with my other stainless steel appliances.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does this have a showerhead ?**
A: Yes, but not the removable wand type. Although it is fixed in place, you can unscrew the head and place flavors such as pumpkin spice or caramel inside to infuse your coffee. Excellent feature. Everything I've always wanted in a showerhead.

**Q: Whar, besides style, is the difference between dcc3200 and dcc1200?**
A: Taste: Coffee in the 3200 is more flavorful. A new machine might be expected to be better, but I think they've gotten the flow and temperature of the brewing process better.Temperature: The brewed coffee is much hotter. Both units have three temperature settings for the hot plate, but the settings on the 3200 are hotter.Size and Capacity. The 3200 handles 14 cups compared to the 1200's 12 cups. Yet as you can see from the photos, they are the same height to fit on a counter. They seem to get the extra capacity by making the 3200 a little deeper from front to back. We've been surprised at how useful the extra capacity is.Carafe: The new glass carafe is just like the old one, only larger. It pours nicely with or without the lid on it. The new lid works the same as the old one, popping off and on. (I read some complaints about the lid on an intervening model with a spring opening, but if so, they fixed that by going back to the 1200 style). As far as I can tell, there isn't a version of the 3200 designed for a thermal carafe like there is for the 12-cup models. I prefer the glass carafe because it keeps the coffee hotter longer, and I can always pour the coffee into a thermal carafe if I want to.Water Filling. The bigger size also increases the size of the water fill hole. The lid on the top of the 3200 unit raises to 90 degrees straight up, where the lid on the 1200 tilted further back and out of the way. Still the 3200 is easier to fill, and I suspect that the restriction on the tilt may help preserve the integrity of the hot water tube.Sneak a Cup. Taking out the carafe to sneak a cup during brewing worked great on the 1200 with little dripping, and still does on the 3200.Basket. The basket on the 3200 is very similar to the 1200, but a slightly different shape to accommodate more grounds for 14 cups. Actually, grounds just barely fit with a 4 cup paper filter in the new basket, and sometimes go above the filter in the basket. The basket actually seems more designed for the included gold filter.Water filter. The 3200 uses the exact same carbon filters and filter holder as the 1200, but the holder seems to fit more snugly in its hole, which may help prevent clogging (see below)Beep. The 3200 allows you to turn of the coffee-ready beep if you want.Controls. Controls on the 3200 are a little easier. The 3200 uses all push buttons with no switches. Separate hour and minute settings make it a little easier to program and set the clock. There is a new "Bold" setting which does indeed seem to result in stronger coffee. There is still a setting for smaller, 1-4 cup pots, but I never use that. You can still set the hot plate to stay hot for up to 4 hours, which is important to me. There is a fairly bright blue glow from the LED display on the 3200.Cleaning. There was a sensor button on the hot plate of the 1200 that's gone on the 3200, so the plate stays cleaner. The extra stainless steel looks good on the 3200 but probably shows smudges more and might benefit from special cleaner fluids.Coffee Grounds Overflowing and Clogging. This was the biggest problem before, and I don't know if it's fixed, but it seems better. On the 1200, if you put too many coffee grounds in the filter it could overflow in the brewing process, and sometimes grounds would get into the water system and clog the tube. The 1200 was designed not to be repairable, but customers tried anyway with some difficulty. After one successful repair, we eventually had to replace the 1200. So far, we have not had any overflow issues with the 3200. The larger basket (with possibly a bigger drip opening), the deeper reservoir and longer case, and the more stable, non-tilting lid may help with this, but we will see how it works over time. I do notice that they made the bottom panel easier to remove, with regular screws instead of Torx, if it ever comes to that. My one tip for users is to always use the filter holder with a filter in it, even if your water is fine, because that should help prevent grounds from getting into the heating system. In all, the 3200 is an excellent replacement for the 1200, and worth the extra money if you are choosing between the two models new.

**Q: Can you take the carafe out and pour a cup of coffee before it is totally finished brewing (without it continuing to drip)?**
A: No tonly will it drip, if you do this at the start of the nrew cycle, what doesn't start dripping goes over the top of the filter holder and then you get floating grounds everywhere on the inside, ruining the coffee and needing extensive cleaning before you try to brew another pot.... been there ... done that! :)

**Q: What exactly are the ounces? 14-4 oz cups or 14-8 oz cups?**
A: It's 5.3333 oz per "cup" line by my closest approximation. There are 75oz for a full 14 "cup" line on the carafe. I filled the carafe to the 14 "cup" line, then poured it into a 32oz Pyrex measuring cup. Every 32oz I poured out of carafe took it down 6 'cup' lines. Doing this 2x left me with 2 "cup" lines left, that poured out to between 10-11 ozs.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great simple machine... Fantastic cup of full bodied coffee
*by L***E on December 31, 2025*

Love this machine. Makes a very fine cup of coffee ... It's a slower brew time than most but that's also why the coffee tastes so good. The different temp selections on the carafe plate warmer are really nice ... ...I've yet to taste a burnt cup. It's makes a LOT of coffee and the smaller brew options works great as well. You need to put in the amount of water for the size pot you're brewing ... The one to four cup button doesn't control the amount of water that gets brewed... It's not like some makers on the market where you can fill the reservoir and it'll stop itself at two cups. If you overfill it, there will be a waterfall out the back top ... Learned right away to check the reservoir before filling. Operator error I got the white one and the ease of cleaning this unit is great. You can fit your hand inside the carafe to clean it unlike taller thinner carafes I've had. It's a simple body so clean up is a breeze. Really glad I went with the Cuisinart. I've always used the bold/rich settings on other machines but this one is as good as those on the regular setting... Rich is the default here, depending on your beans. The bold setting is great for afternoon sweet coffee with creamer when you still want rich coffee flavor. There's a mesh filter or you can use a paper filter. The tiny looking scoop IS a TABLESPOON although it doesn't look like it is at all.
