## Description

With the release of ADULTRY the band's third album, Dog Fashion Disco has clearly thrown the musical rulebook out of the window by creating a musicaly ambitious concept record. Melding elements of metal hardcore, jazz and lounge, ADULTRY takes listeners on a journey through one man's self-destruction taking Dog Fashion Disco and their brand of "schitzo-experiemtnal" to a whole new level.

Review: NOT a FNM/Patton Rip Off - A band like Dog Fashion Disco is going to stir up controversy anyway you look at it. They are going to get hit for their lyrical content, the music itself(for the people that don't get it) or because they get slammed for being Faith No More/Mike Patton rip offs. I take the last matter seriously because at first I thought about calling this review "The Best Album Mike Patton Never Did". But I took a little time to really think about it. I at one point was such a Faith No More purist that when I bought the first Dog Fashion Disco album back in 2001 I hated it and could not get what they were doing. But that all changed when I heard "Committed to a Bright Future", which is a KILLER album. But we are not talking about that album, which in my opinion is very different from this incredible album, "Adultery". I have seen the write ups that slam Todd and his vocal performances listing Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Tomahawk, etc. as being apparently the only thing he listens to and I though I find some merit because it sounds that way, it is not fair. I am sorry but it is one thing to be a music fan who just listens to music, it is a totally different thing to be a music fan and be a musician(recording on top of that). We all know that music has a tremendous impact on us all, just look at someone who doesn't listen or care about music and you will see someone who is so different you know it almost the moment you meet them. But when you play an instrument, record albums, music takes such a different role in your life. It IS your life. What I am trying to say is that Dog Fashion Disco are too good just to be a rip off of a band that may or may not have been influences on them, considering Faith No More were around 20 years before. But look at how many times people have been called rip offs of Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Van Halen-especially Eddie, Metallica & James Hetfield. The list goes on and on. If we look at things, is Mike Patton the ONLY sick and crazy guy who sings like this, writes lyrics like this in the past 20+ years? No. It is not fair to Todd and the rest of the crew that have recorded any of the Dog Fashion Disco albums. "Adultery" is an amazing album that is a concept album full of seedy craziness and warped music that any fan of twisted and complex music should be able to delve into and find a piece of music that you will listen to over and over again. This band deserves the credit they deserve for songs like "Sweet Insanity", "Desert Grave", "Private Eye" and "Adultery" just to name a few. Surprisingly the song samples on desertcart get the point across and if you need more than go to Youtube. Be fair to yourself and find a way to enjoy Faith No More/Mike Patton AND Dog Fashion Disco and your world will be a lot happier.
Review: multiply my 5 star rating by infinity - this is what a concept album should be. MIND BLOWINGLY EXECUTED. so complete and beautiful in a dark way. They really worked hard on this and its quite a mature jump from earlier works I own 2 copies myself since i tend to play them out. yet again the lyrics are researched then twisted making its so much more intellectual than most other horror and dark type music. Tods ability to take history and turn it into poetry is at its best here. I am at a bit of a loss as what more to say pother than really listen through the whole thing before making any rash conclusions I had the cd for 2 years before actually listening and i was FLOORD when i realized what i was missing by prematurely judging it based on its new dfd sound.
