Inova X5MT-WUVT High Powered Ultraviolet LED Flashlight

June 2016: I now own three different UV lights and this model is vastly superior to the others. The quality of the beam and the apparent lack of extraneous wavelengths on this light is mind blowing. The beam is wide and vary even with no hot spots or dim areas. It makes things visible to me that other lights cannot! The wide beam makes it more usable at close range than a highly focused beam, plus makes it better for walking while searching.The price vs quality/functionality makes it an exceedingly good value. Don't tell the seller.It is small making easy to carry and get into tight places.It is very light weight. Hanging it on a thin cord from your neck is comfortable.The cost nowadays for the CR123 batteries is very reasonable.I'm ordering another...

BEST UV lamp, ok look I was trying to find a good quality UV lamp so I finished buying 5 lamps, Here is what I found:The waveleng rage of this lamp is the best, because it alows you to find almost every thing that supose to glow under UV light, and it does it very good, the diference between this one and the others that I bouht was that the other ones they make glow things but some of them you might to be very close 2 inches close, to properly do them glow, due to the wavelenght range. And the Inova has a more wide waveleng range, so it works for almost everything.Just to be fair the other great lamp for a specific wavelengh was the Intsun® High Powered 365 nm UV Ultraviolet LED.

Bought one for work at the airport when my employer switched from these Inova lights (due to improper use and abuse) to bulky low intensity Tektite 395nm UV lights that can only do half the job of this light.It's very portable and pocketable and has a hole for a lanyard. It's very durable, made with aluminum (with a titanium-like finish; it doesn't come in black) with stainless steel LED housing. The battery lasts a long time as long as you don't leave it on continuously. I've had it for six months and haven't changed the batteries that were provided. The two batteries provided were Inova branded 3V CR123A.Performance is superb. Five high intensity 365-400nm UV LEDs that can light up all the security features of identification documents with ease and results in higher throughput. The light has 4 four settings built into 1 button: Push-to-Activate High/Low and Continuous-On High/Low.In conclusion, this a highly recommended UV light!

It's a quality unit, but it's kind of expensive. The most interesting thing to me was that in comparing it to other flashlights with many more LED's in them, that apparently put out much more light - more wasn't always better. Specifically, when I was looking for stains on the walls of my house, the contrast was sometimes better with this light than with the 51 UV-LED light that I bought at the same time. But both lights have earned a place in my toolbox. This one seems to work best at ranges of zero to six feet from fluorescent materials and objects, and I can see how the rear-mounted button switch might make this just the thing for bouncers at clubs or cashiers in dark bars who want to check the authenticity of I.D. cards and currency. You can either twist the tail-cap to keep the light on full-time, or unscrew it slightly and, while gripping the barrel in your closed fist, turn on the light momentarily just by depressing the button switch on the tail-cap with your thumb.

This is a well built product. However, I bought this for the sole purpose of counterfeit detecting. To my surprise, this UV light works $5, $20, $50 US bill's magnetic strips, but does not work on $10 and $100 bill which suppose to show orange ($10) and red ($100). My guess is that its wavelength is too wide to be able to show colors in the red range.I rejected two sales before realized there's something wrong with this light, further test confirmed it. Besides the sales lost, those customers probably weren't too happy even I was very polite about it. Advertising counterfeit detecting capability without testing it, is an epic fail on Inova part. This is my first and last Inova product.

I ordered one for help with cat issues after reading the previous reviews. The light just arrived this afternoon and my wife has confiscated it. I warned her not to use it in the bathroom but noooo... She has explored the whole apartment with it and well you can see your history lit up in beautiful colors. I am glad I know that the carpets were new when we moved in. The cat puke you thought you cleaned up so well is just saying "HI" All the spill over time just stare up in a quilted pattern. I have a strange feeling we will be renting a steamer cleaner. Now I think my wife is going to take the light to work (A hospital) this will be an interesting report. So I am going to buy another one for me and this is just the first day the original light came in.

This product is the best UV light i have ever seen. But i was shining it at a highlighted piece of paper and it glowed. So i thought it would be cool if i highlighted my finger nails. Needless to say i been trying to wash the highlighter off for 5 min it still would not come off. I shined the UV light on my fingers and they still glowed. So don't do that!!

I've owned Inova lights in the past and love their build quality but this is overpriced, heavy and frankly, surprisingly dim. Cheaper lights throw more beam and are generally lighter in weight meaning it's easier to carry. I'd return this if I had not tossed the packaging and had it for awhile now. Don't make my mistake.
