It was bigger than I expected, but attractively designed, so that certainly overcame the size issue. However, the reason for my less than excellent rating is due to the very poor hinges. They are not secure at all - not even slightly! The hinges are mounted with some very flimsy screws and plastic plugs combination. Completely unacceptable for our application. A screwdriver and a few turns and anyone could open the mailbox and steal whatever they wish to.In order to solve this, I had to modify the hinges, by replacing them with rivets. Which meanrlt drilling out the holes to larger size to fit an appropriately sized rivet. To make it extra secure, I used washer on the inside around the rivets before fastening them in place. Some children in the neighborhood were stealing/removing the mail out of the mailbox and at times would not receive important mail. I looked online for a solution and found this mailbox which has solved the problem. We now get all of the mail because the need for a key to open.I believe it was designed to be put on the side of the house, however as the attached pics show I was able to put it on a mailbox post next to the road.
