QUAD Classic II Integrated Tube Amplifier Lancaster Grey Rated power: 25 watts per channel 25x2 This valve amplifier is basically a duplicate modern production design of Peter Walkers famed tubed amps of the 1950s. It uses KT-66 output tubes, in a stunning design people comment on when they see, responding, how cool this amp looks. Well, forget how cool it looks, it is the sound that makes it stand out. It was designed back in the day to drive one of the least efficient, hardest load speakers ever made, the Quad full range electrostatic. It is build of the highest quality parts, as they were years ago. Many Quad owners still enjoy their amps that are many decades old. Unlike many modern tube amps, this integrated amp has a tube phono section that is selectable for moving magnet and moving coil phonograph cartridges. It has been modernized only in that the aux input has been labeled CD and banana plug speaker connectors. It has a true tape monitor circuit. If you know about tubes you know they sonically sound and play far louder than their power ratings show. Tubes work entirely different than transistors. Tubes are more musical and more dynamic. This amp is for the finest audiophile grade speakers.
