I didn't allow myself to cross dress until recently and feel that if presented with this knowledge , I might have had a better life.It's premise that cross dressing is a healthy life choice is a bold and inevitable conclusion that I hope future generations will see as a fact of life.Many people are supportive and understanding of us and this book explains why they should be.Thanks for helping me to be me !

I am glad that I read this book and I wholeheartedly and convincingly recommend this book for those who seek to understand what it is to wear clothing of the opposite sex mainly female and why we do so.

I found it very informative. Well researched. There were both good and bad expertise. The how's and why. Who they are. What they do. Why transvestite are private about it. How come they are! Why its a taboo, crime for men to wear dresses. And why it legal for women wear clothes of the opposite gender in public. And not be judge for what they wear. What is the sociality is so one sided in this system. There were many historically a counts for men wearing dresses in public. But he left out several counts. Of some men that was androgynous dressed in dresses.

An absolute must read. Great info and perspective. Easy read, great views, great research. Buy this book!

I thought this book was very well written. Very informative. If you have wondered aboutor need more information about men who crossdress this book is a must read.

Some interesting things and facts. Not a hard read. Some real figures are quoted and different types of crossdressers are mentioned.

Though I felt the writings were kind of carry on and on, the point he puts across in the book is very positive to the Crossdresser. Worth the read for the price

I've been a cross-dresser for 55 years, and I found this book to be extremely accurate. Many of the scenarios described in this book describe my life and lifestyle perfectly.It's good to see someone has done a study to show the cross-dressers are not mentally ill, gay, strange, or anything else. We're just people.

This book takes the form of a commentary on a piece of research carried out with a sample of British male to female cross-dressers. The research took the form of a questionnaire and much of the book is taken up with quotes from the cross-dressers themselves. The general drift of the book is that female to male cross-dressing has become so acceptable that we no longer notice it but male to female still holds a kind of totemic power, even though at least 50% of male have cross-dressed at some time in their lives and an estimated 10% cross-dress regularly. The survey shows that significant numbers of man cross-dress in order to shed the cares of a male role which they find stressful and the author is of the opinion that it should be considered as a positive life-style choice which is helpful to mental well-being. If you are a cross dresser yourself or care for somebody who likes to do it, you will find the book helpful, enjoyable and supportive is perhaps a little light weight.

Dr Vernon Coleman has written a very interesting book based on the results of a survey of over 1000 British men who are cross dressers about their experiences of being transvestites.The book is a very interesting read, the quotes from transvestites who responded to the survey make for fascinating reading.As a transvestite myself I really enjoyed reading the book. I started cross dressing when I was a 13 year old teenager, that was when I first started wearing my mothers underwear, a bra, roll on girdle with suspenders and stockings. It was as a teenager that I started to regularly raid her underwear drawer and wardrobe to borrow her underwear, lingerie, skirts and blouses, I also borrowed her jewellery and make up.I would regularly cross dress whenever I had the house to myself.So, that was the start of my life as a transvestite, I love wearing female clothing, underwear and lingerie.Members of my family have known about my cross dressing for over 35 years.When my mother caught me wearing her underwear it was such a relief for me to be able to "come out" to her that I am a cross dresser.I have enjoyed cross dressing and being a transvestite for over 40 years. I love, being able to spend time relaxing cross dressing at home, and to spend time being totally "en femme", wearing a bra and silicon breasts, French knickers, full slip, stockings and suspender belt, dress, wig and full make up. I spend up to 60 hours a week cross dressing.I love to wear a baby doll nightie and French knickers in bed.Jenny, is the name I have given to my alter ego.Transvestites like me get a lot of pleasure and enjoyment from wearing female clothing and underwear, and being able to spend time being " en femme ".I am so very happy and content with who I really am, and to be a member of the LGBT community.

Based upon carefully gathered research, this brief, but compelling book has given me insight into a male choice of expression that I have never before understood.I now feel I have some measure of appreciation for 'why' these choices are made, instead of just an amiable acceptance that these dressing choices are being made around the world, and that the men making them have a right to express themselves this way, without their dignity being attacked.

A good read, maybe a touch dated but all still relevant. Good to see facts and common sense in print here from Dr Coleman rather than the fiction and eroticism that a few other similar titles have proven to be.A good read for crossdressers and their partners.

I only wish it were longer.
