Boy Can He Scrap - Just Like His Old Man!
I love this movie! I've seen it many many times and it never fails to entertain. It may have been rushed through production to cash in on KIng Kong's success but I think this sequel is very well done nonetheless. The only weak points are the rather abrupt fate of Skull Island and one scene of Kong Jr. mugging for the camera (could have done without that). Little Kong is a great character who makes the ultimate sacrifice (and I like his white fur - shows he is NOT his pa). Robert Armstrong's role, film producer Carl Denham, has changed dramatically since the disaster he casued by bringing Kong Sr. to Manhattan. He's broke, harassed by law suits, threatened with a grand jury indictment and, worse, he knows it was all his fault and admits as much - more than once. He and Captain Englehorn hot-foot it to the South Seas to get away from their troubles. There, they meet a female circus performer down on her luck and a sea captain who has lost his ship. Gosh, if there were only some way out of these jams. Hey, Denham, when you went to Skull Island, did you get the treasure? What treasure? And then we're off on the great adventure. The resulting animal combats are well crafted. Kong Jr. takes on a dragon, and a bear, and both battles are plenty long. There's also a gogeous styracosaurus and a couple of sea monsters. The dramatic fate of Kong Jr. is a classic and as strong as his father's finish in my opinion. If you love the first Kong and haven't seen this one, don't delay, order today!

I LOVE This Movie!!!
This is the sequel to the original King Kong. Fleeing lawsuits & criminal charges after King Kong is killed, producer Carl Denham rejoins the skipper who took him to Skull Island. They do a passable living hauling cargo between South Pacific islands. On one island they meet the owner of a small time circus and his daughter along with the man who told Denham about a secret treasure behind the wall on Kong's island. During the voyage, they discover the circus owner's daughter stowed away onboard. The crew are not happy about having a female on board . So at the instigation of the map seller they mutiny, setting adrift in a rowboat Denham, the captain, the circus owner's daughter, the cook & the munity instigator. They land ashore on the far side of the island to avoid the natives(who were none too happy when Kong destroyed their village) and discover a baby Kong! They rescue it from sure death from quicksand & it follows them around & rescues them from various creatures that attack. I won't spoil the ending of the movie if you have never seen it before but you will love it! I got this DVD because I can't play my VHS tape anymore!

''SON OF KONG''-- IS A TERRIFIC MUST-HAVE SEQUEL!!
Neglected little classic has merit all it's own , with Carl Denham (Robert Armstrong), the skipper (Frank Reicher), and Charlie the cook (Victor Wong), all returning to Kong's Island with a stowaway girl (Helen Mack), and finding that the crew has mutiny on their minds after finding some pretty upset Natives recouping from Kong's violent departure with the last visit! Now-- they want the "treasure of the Island"-just a ploy to return --instigated by a hillarious John Marston playing 'Helstrom', who was the man who gave Denham the map to Kong's Island to begin with! A lot of fun in this rather all too-short-of-a-sequel. The 69 minutes is a classic thrill-package on it's own. It's a comedy, too! You won't believe the ending and you'll probably will never forget the ''SON OF KONG"! This Blu-ray is a terrific addition and co-feature for ''KING KONG", beginning where the first film ended, and-- when played together in tandum,-- makes for a terrific entertainment show! For collectors--a MUST-HAVE SEQUEL!!

Great O'Brien Special Effects, Except ...
This film has great special effects (the title character, the final earthquake) and tells a coherent, if not over-elaborate story: Carl Denham, pursued by process-servers and grand juries as a result of the damage done by King Kong, teams up with the Skipper to run away to the South Seas as traders. In due course they have reason to return to Kong Island, where they find the Son of Kong. And assorted dinosaurs, of course. And a treasure. The problem I have with the film is that the Son of Kong is made to assume some facial expressions that are all too human -- for a 12-foot-tall ape, that is. This is just too silly for me.But you are free to enjoy it.

"Broke! I'm shattered!"
Here's a follow-up that's both funny and sad. The disgraced Denham (Robert Armstrong) returns with a new scheme and a new leading lady (Helen Mack, who I prefer over Fay Wray).I like that this film addresses what would logically happen after a monster rampages through a city: lawsuits galore for property damages and the loss of lives. Process servers literally come out of the woodwork, anxious to catch Denham unaware. At least here, he admits his part in the catastrophe: "guess if I left him alone we'd all be better off."I love that they make another quick trip to the doomed island. This film may not be as involved as the first but there's still plenty of action, including a mutiny at sea, several prehistoric beasts, and an earthquake. It might have fared better if they hadn't made "poor little Kong" so lovable and cartoony.

"Offspring Continues the Legend."
Well...the long lost child has come home! I had been looking for a copy of "Son of Kong," for myself for quite a few years, and also ever since I introduced my now 8 year old grandson, to the original "King Kong" from 1933; two years ago. He fell in love with the original, and was amused to know that Kong had a Son. Unfortunately, I had not been able to find it on VHS/DVD anywhere. To my delight, when I discovered recently that it was available at Amazon, I added it to my movie library. My grandson is a big fan of stop motion special effects movies, and absolutely loves the works of Ernest B. Schoedsack, Merian C. Cooper and (the master himself); Ray Harryhausen! The "Son of Kong" is definitely following in "Big Daddy Kong's" footsteps; becoming one of our very favorites! Thanks Amazon!!

Like Junior Kong, this is rather lightweight
The honest-to-goodness real-life sequel to King Kong features several returning cast members (Robert Armstrong is back as Carl Denham along with John Marston and Victor Wong as captain and cook of The Venture though neither Fay Wray nor Kong are back) along with director Robert B Schoesdack and producer Merian C Cooper. The story starts with Denham escaping back to the south seas to escape the hundreds of lawsuits brought by the victims of Kong at the end of the last film. While out there he runs into the man who sold him the map to Skull Island and a return becomes inevitable to find the treasure claimed to be there. They find "Junior Kong", a 12-foot version of Kong and have a small adventure before definitively closing the door on other sequels. It's a lightweight romp with the basic idea that he spectacular events of one film become the legal nightmare of the next actually being rather interesting. It's only 69 minutes long so it can't outstay its welcome and, possibly contrary to prevailing opinion, I actually rather like it, dancing monkeys and musical number notwithstanding/This WB blu-ray plays fine on UK players and the picture and sound are pretty good. Despatch was quick and the price less than the equivalent UK DVD. Buy with confidence.

NOT A PATCH OF HIS OLD MAN
IT was less than a year from KING KONG when most of the cast got back together for this movie but this time it was a flop. The movie had the great WILLIS O BRIEN doing the monsters etc and these are very well done but its the slow story line and KONG itself that lets the movie down in fact they put on the posters that this was a SERIO-COMJC PHANTASY. Now about the disc it has a nice clear picture and good sound on the extra side we get the trailer of the movie. So to sum up a nice disc but just dont think you will get a movie as good as KING KONG as you wont but take it for what it is even in the movie ROBERT ARMSTRONG turns and says about baby KONG he is not a patch of his old man i think that summed it up very well
