I purchased this set after using a different set for awhile. The difference is night and day. The other set was not sharp. This set was so much better. Very sharp and does a very nice job. I was able to trim the barrels for 3 pen sets (6 halves) in the time it would take me to trim 1/2 of a pen with the other set.

I don't know if it came dull or what, but the blades just don't cut well. They'll rip and tear out large chunks around the brass barrel and along the edges of the blank (if you drilled askew). Also, when I moved the cutter head around on the shafts, something isn't lining back up because it won't cut the brass barrels anymore.

This replaced the same part that I used heavily. I was happy with the original mill, so when it wore out I ordered another one. Now I wish I spent the additional money and bought the carbide tool.

Effective and very affordable, my only real complaint is that I wished it game with more bits. I have several pen tubes which don't fit this. I'm not sure if you can get additional bits or this is pretty much all you get before you have to upgrade to a much more expensive and comprehensive set/brand.

So much easier than using a disc sander and a lot faster too. I wear a glove and hold the blank in my hand. Use the reamer on each side until you can see shiny brass and call it a day. Ive drilled a few dozen blanks and they havent seemed to lose any sharpness at all.

This product performs as intended. It has made this step of the pen turning process quick and easy. the bit shaft ensures no foreign material or blockages remain inside of the pen tube, and the base trims wood to the tubes exact depth.

Works great to square pen blanks. It is easy to switch between sizes. I would buy again.

This items did a great job as it was expected. Really not much to say except you get exactly what you buy with no worries of it not working.
