Samurai 13-grid Sudoku: 101 Samurai

My husband is obsessed with sudoku. He stumbled upon a book that had about five of these samurai puzzles and he was over-joyed. Those samurai puzzles were (I think) five puzzles in one. I like to mess with him, so I started looking for something more challenging. Enter: 13-grid samurai sudoku. I ordered this and a case for his ipad (and an ipad) for his birthday. Then I swiftly went out of town for 6 weeks (work). He was giddy when he realized he had this. It takes him the better part of an hour to do a puzzle, but he simply loves this book! Great for people who like really challenging sudokus and want to venture into the land of crazy. I don't have the attention span to do one of these, but I like normal sudoku! Glad I purchased for the hubby!

Love the fun but am disappointed in how small the squares are! So I took off one star. It looks as if there is room on the pages to have increased the size to at least some degree. So, why didn't Gareth Moore do that??

Great book. I've done a lot of sudoku and this series is one of the best.

This is a great book for fans of samurai sudoku. I am always looking for a good book to buy with a number of puzzles instead of one or two that you find in a few books. I enjoy working them out. They start out easy and steadily get more difficult. Anyone who likes samurai will enjoy this book.

Time consuming but doesn't take much brain power to solve .... which is why the time spent on it seems like a waste.

I progressed from the normal Sudoku to a 5 grid Sudoku with out too much trouble.But this 13 grid Sudoku gives me headaches, literally. I think it's to do with the extra blocks & numbers that surround the block you are working on that are always in your periferal vision.I have a solution that helped me enormously, i made a cover patch from stiff card so that it only allows me to look at the 9x9 grid plus the two blocks of 3x3 that are attatched to each corner & coloured it black so that i can only concentrate on the grid i want to see.Great puzzles, got two books of 101 each & they will last me a VERY long time!. Good price too.Eventually next will be the 3D Sudoku puzzles.

These puzzles, get more challenging as you work through the book. I've only got to the 4th puzzle and am finding them pretty easy so far but I really like that they are more involved than regular Sudoku and take longer to do. Just recently I ripped a couple of pages out of the book so I'd have something to do on a long train ride and they kept me occupied the whole journey. A lot of 'playtime' for not much weight and space taken up in the hand luggage.

These big grids certainly make you concentrate, luckily it's got decent paper which won't tear if you go wrong and have to rub things out!

A fascinating and addictive progression from normal samurai sudoku. I love them..
