The Complete Alien Omnibus

Great bundle!
This omnibus represents a great deal for fans of the Alien series. It reprints all three Alien movie tie-ins, written by Alan Dean Foster (also noteworthy to add that they're the only good ones.) They're all in one single paperback volume. The books themselves are great. The first novel centers around the plot of the first film, but slightly differs. Many fans believe that Foster based the novel off of an earlier shooting script or draft of the screenplay. It does not include any scenes from the director's cut, that I can recall. The last part of the book got slightly boring, when Ripley is struggling to get off of the Nostromo. The build-up to the ending sequence was slow, and ended early. The second novel centers around Aliens, and I liked that novel better. It goes a little more in-depth with the atmosphere and world of the films than the others. The third novel was an interesting read. It would have certainly been interesting to see the novel stray from the film's storyline and instead go by the canon of the pitched versions-- Aliens on Earth, or the "wooden planet" with the monks that the Sulaco crashes in to. It's been many years since i've heard anything about either of those, but I imagine there were good reasons those plot elements got scrapped altogether. Anyway, before I get off on a tangent, I will just say that the third novel wasn't the best of the three, but, I am a huge fan and did enjoy it.If you can find a copy of this omnibus, I'd recommend purchasing it!

Must-have item for the hardcore fan and very good reading for the average
This book contains the novelizations of the three first movies, all written by Alan Dean Foster (not as I first thought that the book of "Alien" came first than the movie). "Alien", was not 'based on the screeplay by...' (meaning that is based upon the story, but not the film) as the other two, being a little different from what the movie is. "Aliens" and "Alien 3" are based upon the movie, in spite of that the third one actualy is a little different from the movie itself in some aspects (for example, the alien in this novelizations does not offspring from a dog), resulting that "Aliens" is the one most very loyal to the movie. This book is a must have for the hardcore fan of "Aliens", since it goes around other aspects that would be difficult to show in the films. It is also a great reading for the average fan, since Alan Dean Foster is such a talented writer. And besides, are three books in one.

I'm a HUGE fan of the Alien series. I ...
I'm a HUGE fan of the Alien series. I have seen all the movies, but the book offers the deepest descriptions. The author writes so well that the images literally come to life in my imagination. Scary and intriguing at the same time.

Just had to buy it...
When I was a kid I read the book "Alien". Thought is was good. Was a big fan of "Aliens" and very let down wit "Alien 3". "Aliens" was a good read, "Alien 3" was still a somewhat disappointment. But it did sort of give a better story than the movie, I just had to know. Especially since the special edition DVD's did not have any deleted scenes or anything explaining what could have happened.

A keeper!
Movie novelizations are usually a cash-in, tied strictly to the movie they're promoting. Alan Dean Foster is not that kind of writer. These books are all great. Many of the ideas are taken from the original screenplay if not pre-production, so what you are reading here is really more of a director's cut, sometimes more so than any version of the film you may have seen. If you loved the movies you will love the books, and three-in-one? Not to be missed!

The Movie(s) +++
If you are even slightly a fan of the Alien movies than you MUST own a copy of the Alan Dean Foster movie "adaptations" - ADF takes what you have seen on the screen wither through the original or directors cut versions of the movies and adds his flair, style, and insight into the stories in a way that makes them edge out the movies more than just a little. If you have never seen the full versions of any of these movies, I recommend the stories all the more as there is new and more detailed scenes in the stories than you would have seen on the screen and Foster is never one to shy away from giving you the entire story, not just what makes it to the can in the film studio.

concerning Alien Omnibus
Alien Omnibus was a lot better than I expected. The book is concise and neat with all three of the alien trilogy. It was received in good shape and makes a welcome addition to my "Alien Collection" of books and movies (not to mention by my aprox 9" Alien warrior figure}.

Good price for good books
3 of the best novelizations ever under one cover makes it worth the price of admission alone. The covers are a little thin though - the book arrived, brand new, already somewhat bent, and I can only imagine how dog-eared this thing is going to get once it's been read through a few times.I can't complain though. I just really like these books and I'm very happy to own them again.

Todo correcto y antes de lo esperado
Libro en buen estado y llegó incluso antes de lo esperado, en domingo. No es el de tapa dura sino que digamos que es la opción de "bolsillo". Muy buen libro. Fue para un regalo y le ha encantado.

a great omnibus
If you're interested in reading the novelisations for the initial three instalments in the 'Alien' movie franchise, this omnibus is a great book. The same author - Alan Dean Foster - wrote all three, and there's a definite stylistic continuity to the novels. You get 'Alien', 'Aliens', and 'Alien 3' - which, in total, come to about 650 pages. The stories are reasonably well-written (although Foster isn't the best fiction writer). If you're a fan of the films, you'll likely enjoy this book. What's fascinating are the deviations taken by Foster - where he explores aspects of the stories not dealt with in the films.Overall, a bargain omnibus.

Very exciting novelization collection
I was really excited to get my hands on a collection of the first three alien parts. My high hopes were fulfilled because the book delivers what it promises. It is also interesting to make out the differences between the novelizations and the final scripts of the movies...particularly so in the last part...
