I'd Be Lying If I Said I Didn't Like This Book!
The Lying Game is about two girls: Sutton Mercer and Emma Paxton. Two girls who are long-lost twin sisters. It starts out with Emma seeing a video that features her twin and automatically, Emma wants to contact Sutton to see if they had the same birthday, or even the same mother. Sutton replies back, and the two decide to meet in Tuscon, Arizona, Sutton's home. When Emma arrives, Sutton is nowhere to be found, but Sutton's friends find Emma and kidnap her to a party. Emma, realizing she is being mistaken for her twin, decides to play the role for a night, just to see what Sutton's life is really like. After a great night of partying, Emma waits in Sutton's room for her twin to arrive. But Sutton never does.**Minor Spolier**The next morning, Laurel is about to drive "Sutton" (who is really Emma) to school, when a note is found, saying: "Sutton's dead. Tell no one. Keep playing along . . . or you next." And then, Emma is thrown into the high class world that is Sutton's life. She has to try and discover who has killed her twin, all the while maintaining her role as Sutton. Emma soon discovers that her twin has been up to some nasty trouble, creating a club known as "The Lying Game." The Lying Game is a bunch of cruel pranks that the four club members: Charlotte Chamberlain, Madeline Vega, Laurel Mercer, and, of course, Sutton Mercer.Along for the ride is Ethan Landry, a moody, distant loner like Emma (who seems to be falling for him); Laurel, Sutton's occasionally snobby, but mostly desperate to be in Sutton's club sister. And then there are Charlotte: a friend that has a thing for Sutton's boyfriend, and might have had enough incentive to kill Sutton; Madeline: a pretty ballerina that is more than meets the eye.And then, there are the "Twitter Twins": Gabriella and Lilianna Fiorello (Gabby and Lili), who are even more desperate than Laurel to get into Sutton's exclusive club.At the end, nothing is resolved. So of course, this is going to be a series. But it was so good, I can't wait for the next book in the series: Never Have I Ever. This book was especially great because it was relatable to a teenager like me. It had a lot of modern references, and it was easy to understand. It also sounded like a teenager talking: they weren't throwing cuss words around, but they didn't NOT cuss...Overall: 5 stars. I'd recommend this book to anyone who is into mystery, drama, romance...any sort of Sara Shepard novel. Anyone who liked the Pretty Little Liars books will love this one, if not more than the PLL series.

Entertaining will continue to read series
I have been watching all of the pretty little liars seasons as they come out. Disappointed that i did not discover the books before the tv series, i was glad to find this series of books to read before i jump into the show, of which i did watch 5 min of the lying game and it is not as good as the book. The show jumps all around so i recommend the book before the show. Anyway, now to the book review- I kept turning pages with this book and found it enjoyable it is worth the read. My reason for rating it lower is because when the book starts you are not aware that there are both twins talking and thinking. At first i thought Emma was either having some sort of twin vibes that she could feel and hear her sister (which were poorly written, i actually paused a few times, thinking whaaat?) or theory two, because Emma's Mother clearly had an mental illness, maybe i was reading about a crazy girl? It was not until i got past the 2nd chapter that i began to realize one of the characters is Emma's twin. There is something a bit lacking between the relationship of the characters, a tad unreal. Mostly though once i got past the 2nd chapter i began loving this book. The only thing i continue to not like is the fact that Sara Shepard continues to write these books with too much trend, meaning she describes products and clothes the girls are wearing liking, which are going to date this book. It is one thing to describe a classic brand but another to keep describing things that are in the moment. I can see myself wanting to hand this book down to daughter to read because i enjoyed it a lot and think overall it is good teen read. I have a feeling though my teen will be asking what these trendy items are like, or maybe they will even feel the book is outdated, thanks to the style of this writing and find no interest. My suggestion for Sara if she starts another teen series- make it a little more timeless please.

Worth the read second series i read if shepherds
This is the second series i read of shepherds i really like how its not predictable like alot of YA mysteries including her pll series. When i say predictable . Please folks dont get me wrong a pll die hard but i like how this series keeps me on my toes . I literally thought okay i know who the main murder suspect is! Nope i was so wrong . I'm on book 2 currently of this series due to that curve ball she threw . which made me want to instantly jump right into the next book soon as i finished book 1 . Praise for the lying game keep up the good work sara shepherd.

Great first installment of a series.
This first book did a great job setting things up. I felt like I was able to grasp the main points of the story pretty quickly. That don't happen often. I really enjoyed the uniqueness of this story. I had a lot of elements i have never seen before. The tv show is really different from the book. So if you are worried about spoilers don't be. I enjoyed the tv show , but so far I think the books are so much better. If you are interested in a high stakes mystery you should give this book a try. I can't wait to start the next book.

The series as a whole may or may not ultimately turn out to rather too long for its own good (there seem to be quite a few books)
The opening novel in the Lying Game series is a breezy affair with a likeably flawed young protagonist and an interesting - albeit rather improbable - premise. The series as a whole may or may not ultimately turn out to rather too long for its own good (there seem to be quite a few books), but right now I'm enjoying the "Mean Girls + Murder" combo.

5 STARS!
This book is so, so, so good! I loved it! Maybe I think it is so much better than the four following installments, but it is a great beginning in a really good series.

Spannung pur!
Seitdem lebt Emma in ständig wechselnden Pflegefamilien.
