Super-Junior Bench Vise, 4" Jaw Width, 2-1/4" Jaw Opening, 2" Throat (Model SBV-100)

Perfect table top vise. I use it to make cables for my motorcycle.

I wanted a nice little vise for my home workbench. I didn't want a Chinese vise (had one before and it was terrible) and there really aren't any new American vises in this price range. This Czech made "Wilton" fit the bill perfectly.Out of the box it was a bit stiff although it broke in quickly. The jaw opening isn't very deep and if you go too far it takes a little finagling to get the screw started again. A simple sharpie line solved that problem.The swivel base is pretty hokey although I don't really use it. It only has about 35 degrees of travel off center, it doesn't have a center pivot point and as far as I can tell the mating surfaces are not machined.

Rolled the dice on this Chinese produced Wilton. Lost.The grind for the mating surface between the base and the body is shallow and off-center. Being off-center this will not swivel unless it rides up out-of-center, which causes the vise to move in any direction except rotational. Any attempt to rotate leads to instant binding.The jaws do open and close, so that's something? At best a $25 vise.

This is a solid brick…house, you know what I mean. This thing has no play when you open jaws, it is a little stiff to open and close but well worth it for the lack of play. The bad? Okay, the slots for the pivot, are not clean, need to be debuted cause the casting is cut but not deburred. Also, I had to trim the heads of the carriage bolts that tighten the vise after pivoting it. The slots are not parallel to the round base, so the heads hits the wall of base, limiting movement. So they need to be trimmed a little. Once that was all done, voila!!

This is a very good vise for the size and quality.

Should have heeded other's reviews. Vise base has no central pivot, cheap design, there are only two bolts on either side so to swivel, one needs to loosen both of them, then you fight to get it to move either direction as the bolts bind up in their slots. The whole experience of that functionality is a mess. A complete waste of my time when one considers the online research that went into this and then going with a company that makes some very expensive and well put together vises, no lineage here.

Nice little vise for the bench. Wilton has outsourced a lot of their small vise manufacturing to other countries, this one was manufactured in the CK Republic, I believe, they did a nice job.

This vise is just the right size for what I needed it for. The covered/enclosed vice screw is the feature I was looking for to use on my metal work bench. Very nice quality and operation.
