Coleman Company Compass with Led Light, Black/Red

A good backup compass or one for general route orientation. Not for map plotting. Needle is consistently accurate and swings freely without having to hold the compass level - good for quick orientation while on the move. The light is sufficiently bright and runs on commonly available CR2032 batteries (one battery). Waterproof? Don't think so but this can be improved with duct tape around the perimeter of the plastic housing and over the two lanyard holes. Overall, seems reasonably durable. Like all Coleman products, this is a modestly priced item that will serve for most outdoor usage situations.

Grandson loved it. He is in scouts and liked the light also in the compass. Not the best compass but good for a young scout

This compass works fairly well for the price. It didn't come with many directions but we figured it out. The little LED light was a bright idea. The compass does appear to be somewhat flimsy(plastic) but it works(not too sure of the lifespan of it). But we didn't get lost. So there's that. But in the same respect we had our elephant whistle with us as well and we didn't see any elephants.

It is a cheap compass. I knew that when I ordered it. It does work. It will bring my hunting buddies out of the woods. They show up with no compass. I then end up looking for them. I bought three Coleman as loaner for them.

Good compass

This is such a handy little compass. The lanyard is a great size to comfortably fit over the head and the compass is lightweight and a quick read when you're ready. It seem to be accurate and very helpful if you're out at night as well. It can be easily read and understood and is very fairly priced.

This compass requires that YOU set the directional dial. The problem is that I didn’t realize that until it got me LOST 7 or 8 times on a cross country drive. Boo! If I wanted to set it myself, I’d just use the compass on my phone, which is always right. I bought this in case my phone died or the GPS was acting up, which it did. This stupid compass was worthless right out of the package BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO SET IT YOURSELF AHEAD OF TIME. What kind of compass requires that you set it yourself? This one. If I had a sense of direction, I wouldn’t have needed it in the first place. But I don’t, so this compass cost me a lot of wasted time and gas. This compass made me so angry that I wanted to throw it out of the window somewhere around Albuquerque. But instead, I just returned it and wrote this review.
