RexelMomentum X312 Cross Cut Paper Shredder, Shreds 13-12 Sheets (70-80 gsm), 23 Litre Bin, Black, 2104572

I picked this up in the Amazon Warehouse at just under £35 which in my opinion represents excellent value for money as you get a well made product at the joe average price, at full price I would have never looked at or purchased this item. The shredder itself is straight forward dare I say very simple to use as it a no bells or whistles item but essentially it does what it should do faultlessly and so far I have not experienced any issues at all. Would I recommend this product ? YES if it is available at a good price NO at full price !!

Having just had our Rexel 65 fail after 20+ years of service we purchased this Rexel X312, bought because it was described as one of similar performance to what we had.The shredder was unpacked and put to use. About 40 sheets of normal office paper needed to be shredded and initially I fed in three sheets (no staples) and it seemed to struggle so I continued with two sheets at a time but soon after that it jammed, and the "Anti-jam" system did not operate!It was unplugged and I had to hand pick paper out in several places. It then worked again but soon after jammed again (the anti-jam did not operate again)More time was wasted clearing the jam and the last few sheets were shredded.Overall, this Shredder was not up to the standard advertised.It struggled with three sheets of "NORMAL" office paper (and seriously doubt it could cope with the advertised 12 sheets it described as capable of)The "Ant-Jam" technology DID NOT work on either occasions.Time wasted was over 30 minutes ... this Shredder is NOT performing as advertised

Won't do 12 pages unless they're of very lightweight paper. Does half a dozen normal weight pages easily and was bought to get rid of lots of old documents which it did very well

Really great but I think of getting a bigger bin if you like to do larger jobs in one sitting

First thing first. It shreds well and it seems to shred a lot (it hasn't cut out or overheat once, in 6 weeks) BUT I would not buy this item again for the following reasons:1, The collection tub is odd, as stated in other reviews, at about a third or half full, all of the shredding builds up on one side of the collector and causes the machine to to put itself in reverse. It has never jammed but you can tell it doesn't help when this happens.2, Similar to point 1. It has a viewing window to see the level of paper inside - it's too dark and you can hardly see through it, unless your at a level with the machine.3, The most problematic thing about this machine, that I have not seen others say. It does not stay turned on if you walk away from it. You can shred hundreds of sheets of paper and this machine will not miss a beat (unless you get caught out by point 1) BUT if you leave it alone - it goes in to some form of standby and the blue "forward" light will go from solid to flashing. Once this happens you have to press and hold that button for about 3 seconds, or the machine will not accept paper. So, if you put it under, on, or next to a desk, don't expect to be able to sporadically walk up to it and pop some paper in... It doesn't let you. Amazon even exchanged the unit as they thought it was an error - Rexel do not reference this.In conclusion. For the price (£105) it's just too awkward and frustrating. My previous 2 shredders have been £45 ProAction machines from Argos. Next time will be another - Just put paper in and they shred, although they may not last - for 18 months, they're good enough.

Excellent item, working perfect and it is in very good condition considering we bought it as a second hand item. the box was a bit tatty but the item itself very good and performance it is excellent. Quite happy with it.

Shredder arrived and was put to use straight away as a house move mean't I needed to get rid of a lot of old papers.The shredder stopped working after just 10 minutes, not constant use I hasten to add as it had blocked teeth. I tried again and within no time the same thing happened and continues to occur every few minutes.I'll be sending it back after only having it for a few hours.!!
