The Prophet (A Penguin Classics Hardcover) Review: Beautiful physical book / perception altering offerings - I encountered this book when I was 9 years old and it completely changed the way I lived my life and viewed others. No more woe is me, nor life isnʻt fair. Instead I realized my actions and perceptions are in my control. Truly mind altering. Annually I have a selection of books and other writings, including The Prophet, that I read again. The Prophet is always fresh and I come away with new eyes and attitude. The hardcover book is beautiful with the book pages kissed with a serene blue that is reflected on the cover and the text within. Just looking at the book makes me feel calm and ready for the words of love, acceptance, and the freedom to be. I purchased this book for myself to replace the tattered paperback I was given as a child. After reading and rereading over the past couple of days I am going to purchase a few more books to gift to people I love. Review: Beautiful Book Filled With Timeless Wisdom And Poetic Imagery - This book just entered the public domain here in the United States and I heard good things about it so I thought I order a copy to celebrate Public Domain Day and introduce myself to this classic work of literature. This is a nice, sturdy hardcover edition from Penguin Classics with blue gilding on the pages and a sweet forward by Rupi Kaur who herself was inspired by the book growing up. With the first page, I was hooked and read the whole way through. The language is so elegant and rhythmic, and the lessons being taught are quite profound, for example the section on "Crime and Punishment" and how it speaks about citizens viewing criminals as "strangers" when they themselves have the same propensity to committing similar acts really stood out to me upon my first reading. Even though it's a very short book (about 100 pages long), it is so dense with imagery that it could take multiple re-readings in order to grasp every detail and inner truth being written. I plan to revisit this book every now and again in order to do so and it would serve as a nice companion for my life's journey. I highly recommend this to everyone.

The greatest book on the planet
My grandfather recently passed and he gave me (a different copy) of this book. It has been one of my favorites for my entire life. The answer to all of lifes deepest questions are in this book. I purchased a few copies to keep my grandfather alive in heart for all of my friends and family. I will forever buy copies of this book to give. It is one of the most powerful books you can own.

Biblical Style With Nondenominational, Contemporary Influences
I've read this twice now. It has the feel of an apocryphal book of the Old Testament, with a serious but heartwarming rhetorical style. The contents of the prophet's sermons are fairly modern, but the topics are abstract enough that they feel timeliness. This is a fun grab bag of aphorisms. Your mileage will vary based on how clearly the metaphor of each aphorism speaks to your own experience. I always find this book intriguing, but inherently hit or miss.

beautiful!
The Prophet is a loftily written expose of the governing universal laws of love, rhythm, correspondence, cause and effect, dualism and polarity. I absolutely loved it and would not have understood it should it have presented itself to me earlier than this present moment. Deeply grateful for the lessons it beholds.

A Treasure
What could I possibly write about this book that has not been said before? I don't actually know how many times I have read this over the last 50 years, but I do know that each time I do, it speaks to me anew. As I age to the last quarter of my life, I am grateful to have discovered it as a very young man and that these writings have touched my soul with each reading.

CLASSIC WORKS BUT SIZE & FORMAT ALMOST TOO SMALL TO READ
This work is classic literature. But sadly, the product presentation doesn't make it clear how small the edition is -- 5x7 inches -- and how terribly small the font size is -- like 14 pt. It's really not readable -- but more a way to possess a treasured piece.

No words can do justice to this beautiful book. The poetic prose had me so captivated that I started to read it out loud. Seldom does it happen that the words feel like music themselves. There are parts of this book that I’ll keep going back to time and again only to find a deeper meaning to them. Learnt and contemplated a great deal through the majestic words of Gibran. In all honesty I haven’t felt more satisfied after reading a book ever. But also at the same time I’ll have to admit it gets overwhelming since a few essays aren’t unanimous and some are difficult to comprehend. One ought to read it multiple times to devour this novella on spiritual and philosophical ideas on life. It was published about a century ago but doesn’t fail to resonate with us even today.
