The holes are not large enough to allow crystal litter to be collected.
The product has an oder that is reminiscent of cigarette smoke. This is not a good thing and I was left to wonder if it was the mat material or the packaging it was shipped in. It does not dissipate quickly. It is resistant to water but makes an unusual sloshing sound when you pick it up to dump out the contents. I would not recommend this mat. Many alternatives are available that perform better. Crystal litter especially the round BB shaped type gets hung up in the holes and does not get collected in the mat as advertised. Larger holes would not solve the problem as there is insufficient product depth to allow the litter to collect in the bottom of the mat. Think an envelope that is to small to get the mail to fit in. Hope this honest evaluation is helpful to anyone trying to shop for a mat of this type.

It's ok for smaller uncovered cat boxes.
It's an OK size, for a small to regular sized cat box. Mine are all big so it's too small for them. I used it for a smaller box in my bedroom where I had a cat and it did OK. It was a covered box so not much litter was on it, but what was on it seemed to work as advertised. I do wish it came with a sticky that said "this side down" since I was not sure which side to put down. If you have small or regular sized cat box with no cover, it's worth it. Otherwise, pass on the price of this thing.

Better than expected, head and tail above other litter mats
My senior cat has a hard time getting in and out of litter boxes, so she requires boxes with low sides. She also loves to kick litter out. That means I generally sweep up once or sometimes twice a day in an effort to keep the house tidy. I've tried all numbers of litter mats before with mediocre success, so I didn't have super-high expectations for this one. I was very pleasantly surprised by how well this contains all of the kicked litter and only need to sweep up the stray bits that land outside of the pad's reach.This is a somewhat large pad, but its neutral color and simple design make it relatively unobtrusive. My cat had no problems adjusting to using it, and it's very easy to clean. Most litter mats allow the litter to slide around once it's collected, but this keeps it in one place until you clean the mat. It worked well with both traditional clay litter and pressed wood litter.(This review is my honest and unbiased opinion and is given in exchange for the opportunity to purchase this mat for a reduced price.)

Really does the job!
This mat is the bomb. It catches just about every speck of litter. With three cats, I'm surprised that in the mornings there is no longer a trail of litter heading from the closet where the litter box is kept. It is very lightweight, so easy to pick up and take outside to shake out the litter. What a great invention!

Something definitely NOT RIGHT!
Came folded in a plastic bag. When I unsealed the bag, the odor, which to me smells like ammonia, was so strong I couldn't, no make that wouldn't take it out of the bag! Toxic toxic toxic. On top of that it felt hard, not soft and pliable as the photo shows.

Aptly Named Product
It is called "The Black Hole" for good reason! For the first few days after I put the mat in front of the litter box, my cat was obviously thinking if he touched the mat he would disappear, so he jumped off to the side, mostly avoiding contact with rhe mat. He has learned that the mat won't hurt him, and now it works as advertised!

empty often as to not defeat the purpose.
I was a little surprised how big it was, but it does what it says. You do have to empty it often, or you will still end up with litter every where. It arrived in a large box, so it wasn't rolled and would lay flat. Overall good item.

STRONG AMMONIA SMELL!
i haven't used it yet, because the mat smells VERY strongly of ammonia. i'm not usually super sensitive to smells, but this is so strong, people at work noticed (i opened the box/plastic bag to look at the mat, and when i noticed the smell, i put it back....people could still smell it for a few minutes). i will air it out in my garage, and hopefully the smell will go away but even if my cat didn't mind the smell, i sure do!
