Goldwood Sound GW-205/4S Shielded 5.25" Woofer 130 Watt 4ohm Replacement Speaker,Black

It seems like every speaker in my house is starting to degrade, mostly in the same way. The rubber surround on the woofer is turning to either mush or cracking and falling into pieces. It used to be that when this happens it was the death-knell for the system, but then folks started selling replacement rubber surrounds. However for the same price of that kit, you can often get a brand new speaker.That's what happened here. For a mere 15 bucks or so I now have effectively a new BA 790 speaker system (which I LOVE!). As others have mentioned, there are a couple bumps in the road with this specific replacement:1. The rear of the sheet metal doesn't fit quite right into the opening in the box. Not really a problem, just center the speaker and tighten the four screws incrementally to pull it down into circumferential contact.2. The terminal on the (-) wire is wider than the push-on connector that's in the box. I used a small diagonal cutter to trim the terminal, then it slid on on easily.3. If this is the first time you've opened your BA-790, you'll probably find that the wires seem too short to allow access. The solution to this for me was to remove the cover plate and push the grommet through, thus giving ample slack to the wire. Open yours, you'll see what I mean.The sound is great once again, no more shattered bass, clean but rich. Totally worth it. I have a couple other BA-790s in the house, I'll buy two more speakers so I'll be ready once they fail, which they undoubtedly will.BTW for those who are not familiar with the BA-790, it is a 3-speaker system designed for computers but works really well with TVs. Unlike some of the boom-makers that are currently on the market, this system is well balanced with excellent treble and bass definition. If you can find a used one on Ebay, buy it, and replace your woofer when it needs it.

This is a almost perfect replacement for a blown Vizio soundbar subwoofer. Just remove 4 torx screws, carefully pry off the plastic face plate, remove the 4 sub screws. I did use a dremil tool to lightly mill the edges for a better fit. Overall Bass quality is very good. At low volumes it doesn’t seem to hit the very low bass like the original, but at high volumes the bass is very good. I use this soundbar and sub mostly for music in the backyard and garage at pretty high volume. I was also able to power a 10” 4 ohm 200W sub in a small ported box very well with the little amp in the mini sub box way better than expected. Only downside is a much larger and heavier sub box. I like the small Vizio sub because it’s very easy to pick up and carry around with 1 hand.Update: Nov. 2021. Woofer lasted for about 5 months and I blew it out. Upgraded to the Dayton 5.25 and that one is still running strong at 2+ years.

I have a set of Polk Atrium 55 speakers where one of the speaker's cone disintegrated. I didn't want to spend a lot of money repairing the speaker so I found out that a 5-1/4", 4 ohm speaker would work. I like to buy used whenever possible especially if the price and item condition are right. I purchased this speaker which was listed with only packaging defects. What I received was a speaker with a dented dust cap and a defective voice coil wire. The dust cap is not an issue but I decided to see if I could repair the wire before returning the speaker. After the repair, the speaker sounds fine and I'm happy with the sound. I could have returned the speaker for a replacement but I know that it would have went into Amazon supply and someone else would have received this defective speaker.

Let's get real here and talk about the product and not if fits or not as a replacement for existing system. You can't give a bad review because doesn't fit , let's talk about the product itself.It is well build, it is heavy and if you have to modify a box to get it right , make the adjustments and fit it there.The sound: It is not a replacement as a woofer of a 2 way speaker. it doesn't have good base. doesn't go down 120 hz maybe 100. I use it to replace the woofer of a 2 way moukey speaker. I have two sets of Moukey 2 way speakers, one of the three way Moukey speaker, three sets of Sony Cs5, a pair ok Klipsch R-51M, and after the woofer replacement on one of my Moukeys with a speaker switcher and eq I try to compare them all using a Fosi BT20A amp and a FX audio D01 DAC. plugged in my computer via USB hearing several songs from Amazon Ultra HD Music.the original Moukey 2 way speaker are great . have a very good deep and clean Base, decent mids and highs with no too much clarity but balanced, more warm very good speaker. the ones with the Goldwood replacement sounds just too bad. The mids gets a lot way better but with some sound coloration, the highs stills there, but the Base is horrible. You can't get good base from these GoldWood even with all the EQ that you can apply. obviously I'm using the same crossover that comes in the Moukeys (maybe I have to upgrade those too to get better results, but i don't have that level of experience) . The woofer in the Original Moukeys are 4ohm 25W, this one also are 4ohm but with more power, 70W. it claims 62 Hz but in my Moukeys that's impossible. they not sounds good at all by themselves, BUT..... I use to have 2 moukey 2 way speakers , 2 Moukey 3 way speakers and an elac 1010 sub in one of my systems. hooked on a AIYIMA D05 amp/Dac 120W each channel. The moukeys plugged in parallel gives 3 Ohms per channel, and the amp can handle it perfect. With this modification I change the setup and now I have the Kllipsh R-51M as main, and the Moukeys modified with this Goldwood speakers as rears, in parallel now gives me 3.5 ohms, because Klipsh are 8ohms. Sounds very very good. Because I have a subwoofer for low frequencies, the mids gets richer because this Goldwood speakers and the Klipsh have a very good clarity and detail in the uppermids and highs. in combination of a more than two speakers even the sound gets better. That's why is difficult to review a well biuld product like this one, because the applications can vary depends on the way you're using it. Again, as a replacement of a 2.0 system just doens't work, maybe for a 2.1 with a good sub. but in my "4.1" system fits perfect!!!!, they should suggest right applications of this product, or maybe needs a larger cabinet and a different crossover to gets more sound quality. I don't know.Lets talk about the comparison to see if justify trying to fix or replace a woofer. . in my test the SONY CS5 are the BEST speakers, balanced and amazing soundstage and clarity. Stunning with a sub added. the 2nd are the Klipsch. Different sound but with that tweeters the details gets more present but sometimes a little unbalanced. More emotional speaker, strong sound, and surprisingly very good base, but maybe some people can find them a little strong on the highs. ( I really like the live stage effect that this Klipsh can give). Third. the Moukeys 3 way speaker. They are very good actually, i would like that the tweeter was 1 inch as the 2 way, but they put smaller tweeter, a mid/tweeter and the I think is the same woofer of the 2 way in other color. that speakers can sound very good and are balanced and the two tweeters or mid one add more texture to music than the 2 way. and finally the cheap and popular Moukey 2 way speaker. more base , very decent mids, respectable highs, but overall pleasure when you listen them. Are more soft and warm ,and bassy , they have punch and can be the best option for less than 60 dollars ( almost the price that i pay for the pair of GoldWood ).. I think that if you're looking this Goldwood to replace a broken woofer for a Polk t15 (had it and not really good) for example. Better get a new pair of Moukeys. or if you're looking this Goldwood for a replacement of a good speaker as the Q acoustic, Jamo S803, Fluance signature, DON'T you will be dissapointed, Better add more dollars and get the CS5 from Sony on sale for less than 100 Dollars or a Neumi BS5 for 99 dollars ( I own them and give it to a friend, But I really think to buy them again someday) or even the Klipsh R-41M (almost the same as the R-51M ones in sound characteristics for something more than 100 Dollars instead of try to replace a part of a good Speaker, that actually you never know if its gonna work or not I had to play a lot to find a place for this modified speaker. fortunatelly i found a great place for those (lucky i guess) , but maybe will be not the case for you.Thanks.
