I have bought two of these, pleased, but have not found any tools in either for opening battery case, should they have been in boxes please.

It’s tucked away in the flimsy plastic case - very easy to overlook, I nearly threw mine away with the case!

Is the glass lens plastic or glass. Many of these loupe have plastic lens even though they call them "glass".

I assumed from the clarity and quality of the image that it was glass, however when I accidentally put my finger on the lens (something I try very hard to avoid doing) I realised it was plastic. I’m old enough to remember when plastic lenses in optical instruments were horrible abominations, but time and technology have moved on! I guess you just have to be a bit more careful about cleaning them and avoiding scratches.

Can it be used in dark room or do you need yellow light

The built in LED light is quite effective, so, depending on the purpose, you could work in a poorly lit or dark room. I am not an expert in gems.

Hi, would I need this to check the quality of gold coins, rings, etc?

It would help with close inspection of rings and coin markings. However would still need a gold tester for yellow metals, digital or chemical.
