Trunk Lock Actuator Motor TailGate Latch For Sonata 09-14 Sonata Hybrid 11-15

Hyundai had a great number of defects in the 2012 Sonata and one of them is the trunk latch. I was in Tennessee on vacation and had packed my trunk to make the trip home, and I went to open the trunk and the release wouldn't work, the valet key wouldn't work. This is a KNOWN defect and is a recall item for some Sonatas.Anyway, I couldn't wait, so when I finally got back home, my brother and I removed the bottom of the seats, used a crowbar to unlatch the top seat, I unpacked the trunk, and then crawled in to release the emergency latch.I ordered the replacement latch ($20ish) and during one lunch hour, I replaced the latch myself.Imagine if I had Hyundai do all this work. Would have been most likely $300-$500.Hope I get 10 more years out of this crappy latch. The new one is perfect, but I hope it doesn't have the same problem as the old one. We'll see.

I knew when I bought it that it is slightly different than my model year configuration, but was able to adapt it and it works great.

The part number was different then the OEM part number for 2014 Hyundai Sonata SE but it installed without any issues and is working great so great option in contrast to the OEM $170 part
