I was most pleasantly surprised by this, the plane manages to have good heft and not feel anything like the other planes in this category (most would better be in the toys category, but not this one. I rarely leave reviews but this deal is nearly unbelievable and is worthy of a glowing review. This plane is better than others I've used which were 10x the price, an amazing value! This is most definitely not a toy and is of shockingly good quality from feel to operation and adjustment. I liked the quality of this so much that I purchased a spare a week after purchasing the first one so I have one to use in case something happens to the other. My main go-to plane for small projects especially ale modeling and smaller woodworking like luthier precision jobs. Square and flat out of the box, no cumbersome flattening of blade needed - Ready to use out of the box (or I got lucky twice), these are That Good.

The base is made of very hard wood that was flat. The mouth on mine didn't need any work. The iron needed sharpening, and that's hard to do something this small; it's less than 2 inches long. After that, it worked great. It holds its edge well. Once set, the blade holds its position, although it's easy to get a finger on top of the iron as you're working. But you get a lot of control on fine details. At this price, I went ahead and got another one.

This mini-plane is great. It's small, works great. BUT, you can search Amazon for "mini hand planes 5 pcs set" and get this EXACT plane, plus four others, for just a bit more than twice the price. Same plane, markings are the same, function is the same, and you end up with other irons (blades) that will allow you to sharpen all the irons and switch them in when this one gets dull.So, great little plane, wish someone had told me I could spend $44 and get it and 4 others instead of just spending $18 for one. I'm giving 3 stars just because it feels a bit scammy to have this exact plane in a set of five, but also be selling this plane as a standalone for this much money.

I was a little skeptical of the quality of this tool given it is made in China but it arrived decently sharp and appears to be very well built. I am using this to create uniform flat surfaces on small wood carvings and happy with what it has done for me so far. Removing the blade to sharpen is extremely easy and I quite like the look of it as well.

Spend money on a better item. This one was useless. Tore wood, gouged, worse plane I’ve ever used.

saw this used in a youtube video and taught I'd try it, well it works great. you can even up the edge's when you have several layers with this tool seems to be a quality tool so far

All metal, easy to adjust and a front finger guide. Small size allows easy access in tight areas. No Plastic! Wish I had this on my last project.
