Ronin BrandShiai Purple Label Karate Gi - High Grade Middleweight 9.5oz. Snappy Canvas Material-Kata Cut/Comp Karate Uniform

I knew the Ronin brand runs a little larger, and also figured, as this model is 100% cotton, that it would shrink a little in washing. I'm 5'8" and 200lbs and hoped I'd be OK with a size 5.5. (My first karate gi was a size 5 from ProForce which was OK but a little tight in the gut. It's so light as to be kind of see through-ish, and was awkward & catching when trying to get into low stances).The size 5.5 of this Ronin Model (Purple Label) was very roomy and just slightly long in the arms and legs for me out of the package (I ordered it figuring I would need it altered anyways). After washing, it is still nice and roomy; the arms and legs have shrunk enough that it DEFINITELY won't need altering. The best though is the perfect weight of this gi (you can feel it's high quality) & low stances/squats are a BREEZE... No more fussing/pulling up the bottoms while trying to get into stance.Though I'll order the size 5 next time, I'm extremely please with what I ordered (I like my arms and legs to fit a little higher; these are high enough as to comfortably not get in the way). Ronin is the brand I will stick with going forward, and I'd recommend it to anyone.

My daughter is ready for a good quality gi. This uniform came as a recommendation from some other kids at the school wearing the same gi. Right out of the bag this gi fits slightly large, but it's known to always buy them a little larger because they do shrink. The stitch quality and material is very high end. It's much lighter than your average heavy weight gi and this gi SNAPS NICE ! This was more than I wanted to spend on my daughter, but she loves it and is well worth the money.

A very good fit and provides the 'snap' needed for an emphatic kata. Good value.

Nice cut.. I knew it would be a bit thinner than my usual Gi but a little too thin for the price...

Never heard of Ronin before, but was in need of good quality tournament gi. I am familiar with Mugen and Tokaido and saw many reviews comparing this gi to those brands. I have to say, that I am glad that I tried this brand and it is now my first choice when I go to tournaments.Sizing was great as well. I am 5'5" 150lbs and went with a straight size 3. Fits me exactly like my Tokaido 3.5 but feels even better and no alterations needed. Great gi and glad I purchased one.

My sons new favorite gi. Light and crisp. Snapping sound it greaton this gi. Reminds me of my old hirota my teacher special ordered me that was over $250. I also bought the Shiai Red label which is the same cut but much heavier. My son prefers this model more. Very good service as well. Received the gi in 3 days.

I absolutely love this Gi. Very well constructed and the Japanese cut makes it even more comfortable during Uechi-Ryu training.

Good quality and a good weight for competition, kata, and training.
