This my favorite book!
I’ve read this book 4 times now. I will read it again and again. The covenant is absolutely amazing how strong it has proved to be. At times in the book I get a feeling of despair at how much trouble the covenant breakers were causing, but also the feeling of gladness and joy at the resilience of the covenant and the obedience of the Bahais in disassociating with those dark and evil souls.

Covenant of Bahaullah
In this book it discusses mainly three forms of the covenant which are of great significance to the followers of Baha'ullah. They include:1. the covenant of the Bab concerning the revelation of Baha'ullah described as 'Him whom God shall make manifest'. The greater covenant in the dispensation of the Bab.2. The covenant of Baha'ullah concerning the appointment of Abdulbaha as his successor, part of the lessor covenant.3. The covenant made by Abdulbaha concerning Shoghi Effendi and the Universal House of Justice: also part of the lesser peace.A lot of reference is made in this book about the covenant breakers of the early history during the Bab's and Bahaullah's ministries like Mirza yahya and siyyid Muhammad. Abdulbaha's time like Mirza Badiullah, Mirza Aqa Jan, Muhammad javad i Qazvini and Mirza Muhammad Ali who was the arch breaker of the covenant. Also during shoghi effendi's period, so many of his close relatives broke the covenant which is explained. These three themes correspond to the three main parts of this book. The early section of the book discusses the nature of the soul in very nice, easy to understand language. There are 28 Black and white photo's in this book showing the different places and people involved in the early phase of the faith.

Remarkable work
This work deals with a subject that should be of interest to all - the relation between the Prophet and His followers. In this case the author deals with the person of Bahá'u'lláh who founded the Bahá'i Faith in 1863. As universal and central to human existence as this subject is it is not an easy one to write about. The author has managed to engage the reader in an insightful discussion. The book blends a review of concepts drawn from Bahá'í Scriptures with a review of historic events that took place in the last hundred years or so. It analyses the parameters of the relationship established through a unique Covenant between the Manifestation of God and His followers, the reasons why this Covenant exists and the consequences for the individuals who knowingly choose to violate it. It is not as difficult a read as one might think. The reader not familiar with the basic facts of this new faith would probably benefit from reading "The Bahá'í Faith: The Emerging Global Religion" by Hatcher and Martin first.
