Appears to be Flimsy, but is Surprisingly Strong!
I ordered this after seeing videos of cute hairstyles using banana clips. I had never really considered them before, but this works shockingly well. When I received it, it felt as though it would break after using it three times, but that was not the case at all. It survived two weeks in Japan and countless hours working with middle school students. My hair is curly, well below my shoulders, and of medium thickness. This clip makes the cutest pony with a layered look. It holds my hair tightly and unless I'm doing to much or have a hectic day, I almost never need to adjust it— maybe 1-2 times a day. That is not much different than tightening a ponytail throughout the day. It is comfortable, fits the shape of my head very well, and never gives me a headache. That is saying something because I'm notorious for getting headaches with ponytails, headbands, etc. Throughout the day as my hair gently loosens, it gives such a cute, lived-in, and effortless look with no extra work! Honestly for the price, it's worth it to try.

Just like the vintage banana clips!
I was using a banana clip my mom had used. It eventually broke one day so I was on the hunt for a replacement that could handle my thick curly hair. This clip is perfect! And nearly identical to the old vintage one I was using. It holds my hair all day. It doesn’t hurt or pull the hair. It’s also super comfortable if I need to lean back against a headrest. That’s one reason why I prefer them over standard claw clips!I think the reason why people struggle so much is because they don’t use it correctly or buy the incorrect size for their hair. You don’t need a huge clip for thin hair. Thicker hair will need a bigger clip. There is a learning curve to use but I’ve always flipped my hair over, pulled my hair into a pony, placed the clip under, flipped my head back over and secured.

Very small …
This 4.5 inch French Banana Clip is VERY SMALL. The 4.5 inches are the measurement of the entire clip including the hinge and the clasp. The teeth-part that holds your hair in place is less than THREE INCHES long. I supposed it might work on someone with less than a dozen hairs on their head, but I have a normal head of hair so it has become a $9.99 cat toy. Seriously, if you are considering getting this, you should probably size up an inch or two.

Get it!!
For the price it is amazing. I have wavy hair in the back, super coily hair in the front, and ponytails don't give me the volume i'd like, and this clip does!!

flimsy for the money
this is kind of flimsy for the money. my hair is straight and thick and this does not hold it very well at all. I am dissapointed
