Honestly a great alternative to a bed
I had to sleep on this for a few months because i didn’t have a box spring or anything, and it wasn;t bad at all. The first few nights were a nightmare, but once i adjusted, i almost prefered this to anything else. Now i just use it for guests to sleep on, and they say it’s comfortable too.

Love this!
We just switched to floor sleeping and we are loving it. We do have a foldable sleeping mat ontop of it. I fold up our mattress and practice stretches and light yoga in the mornings. Its amazing quality and very sturdy. Very well made.

Excellent product for a good price.
Ordered 2. Excellent product in an excellent packaging. It arrived in its own reusable cover with a wrapped and taped packaging inside a box which was inside another box along with the other one. If you like rattan mats, you will not regret.

Great for anything but sleeping
I bought this to put my Shikibuton from futontokyo on top and over a platform frame. It is the hardest thing I've slept on in my life. I slept on a rug on stone tiles in the summer and that was softer and more giving than the past month I've slept on this with my shikibuton. I had to sleep on this for maybe a week before my shikibuton arrived and I found myself gravitating toward my carpeted floor instead.I've since bought a coil mattress to put in between this and my shikibuton, and I've been getting the best night sleep in my life. That being said, it has perks as a normal mat and a bunkie board. I don't think I lost anything from this purchase because it's better to put your Western mattress on than a bunkie board since it's solid rather than slats of wood covered in fabric (they don't make bunkie boards out of solid plywood anymore), but also once I'm done with college, I'm not going to be sleeping on a twin size mattress anymore and I think this would be great to bring to picnics. It'd be cheaper to go buy plywood, but I'm a girl in college with no car to transport one or two pieces of plywood from Home Depot. The folding feature is awesome, too, because it's such a hard surface that you can use it as a table when folded. All in all, I gave it four stars for its multifunctionality for the purposes I've listen. As far as using it as a sleeping mat, I give it a two at most because at least I fell asleep on it eventually, you know?

Not for bed
I needed something hard I could put on bed because of my back problems. I found This mat is NOT for bed only for floor. I put this mat in bed and tried lie down and I heard some cracking sound inside mat . I consider I wasted money because it’s pain on butt to send it back and now I stuck with this I no need. If I have to sleep on floor I sleep just on blanket I no need mat

multifunctionality
Lightness and firmness and good looks fold and unfold with this tatami. Some straps, which at one time must have bound my tatami with others being shipped, left slightly unsightly indents along the edges; otherwise no problems.

Hard
It’s pretty. But way harder than any tatami mat I’ve been in. Almost comparable to thebhard wood floor. It’s good quality material, just wanted a little more give to the mat.
