Ettore Grip 'n Grab Multipurpose Pickup Tool, 1.3" x 4" x 16", Blue

We have a few of these around the house. They’re perfect for fetching pet toys, grabbing clothes from the far reaches of the washer/dryer, or grabbing those wrappers from behind the trash can. The uses seem to be endless.

Grip and Grab by Ettori is great. When I need a grabber, I search for the name specifically because there are others that look like it. Unlike some other grabbers, the Grip and Grab is strong, smooth, and precise. Even though it isn't the intended purpose, it can even serve much like a cane to stabilize a person if needed. Just grip the grabber ends together tightly and you have a three point stance.

ETTORE IS THE BEST !! If you need a grabber that will pick up and carry: coins (from carpet or hard surface), 15 oz. cans, 23 oz Ragu, sheet of paper, pencil, TV clicker, book, comforter, pillow, mouse, your glasses, a cane; can pull your walker or chair within reach, etc. etc.It will also grab your Velcro shoe (and shoes) straps and pull them across tight enough to fit well, also will remove Velcro straps.While ETTORE makes several different sizes of grabbers, which I have, this sweet 16" one is perfect for stashing in your walker basket, or wheelchair pocket; or grocery buggy to reach the top shelves. It is very convenient to park it unobtrusively next to your favorite chair to recover most - peanuts, chips - dropped items within range. (The longer ones work super well for reaching under beds or chairs to recovery just about any inanimate object.)ETTORE's grabbers are steel cable actuated, you pull the trigger and the rubber lipped jaws hold tightly. Many other grabbers use a nylon type cord to pull the jaws, the cord stretches under load and the grip relaxes. Other grabbers use a hard plastic jaw which won't grasp some objects as well as ETTORE's rubber lipped ribbed jaws. A unique bonus is that the jaws of the ETTORE can be rotated and locked in two positions, vertical or horizontal, great if you are having wrist problems, or just want the grabber to lay flat. You could even use it at the holiday table to reach for the salt or another bun.Those who haven't owned an ETTORE grabber probably are thinking this is someone from the company puffing up their products. Not so! I first used ETTORE products many years ago. I needed some GOOD squeegees around the house and found ETTORE had very good ones,( Home Depot I think.) over 20 years ago and they still work well along with their glass cleaning solution.When a hip replacement threatened my independent lifestyle I shopped AMAZON for grabbers. Bought a standard plastic/string operated one but realized I needed something better. I searched again and saw the ETTORE, familiar as squeegee makers, and knew that if the grabbers were as good as their other products it was worth a try. Success ! My fleet of various length ETTORE grabbers are strategically located. But the "cutie" of them all is this little 16 incher. As the hip mends the grabbers are less essential but more a convenience, and this little one is that. The ONLY thing lacking is a hole to hang it on or place a lanyard through.Now if the folks at ETTORE will just work on a quality long handled toenail clipper life will be grand.

This review is for the 16" Ettore Grip and Grab tool.I am wheelchair bound. This is the perfect length grabber for picking up things that I drop. I am sitting down all of the time. It fits conveniently between between the chair arm and seat cushion. I previously used a grabber that folded in half. It was bulky & constantly falling open grrrrr. This one grips solidly. I would recommend the 16" to the person that is sitting mostly.UPDATE June 2021I've been using this tool for a year and a half. It's still plenty sturdy and I use it many times everyday. It goes with me wherever I go. The 16" length is perfect for what I need. The tips of the grabber are a slightly flexible material so I can pick up coins, screws, pens, a single sheet of paper, a 12 oz can, remote control, my dogs toys, remove clothes from my deep tub washer, remove clothes from the driver, medicine bottles, and even a pill I dropped. I am careful with the grabber and do not pick up really heavy things. NO grabber tool will last with that kind of abuse. With care, this tool will last me for many years to come. I am ordering today a longer version to use in the kitchen on my extra tall cabinet shelves.Update January 2024I have several of the longer grabbers. This 16" length is MY FAVORITE! It still works perfectly just like brand new (4 years old now). I wanted to purchase a couple more for the laundry room and bedroom, but I can't seem to locate the 16" on Amazon anymore. I have the longer lengths but, they seem to be (like other brands) awkward. The 16 inch length is still the perfect length for me. I did locate this at other websites so am relieved it has not been discontinued.

I love love love this short grabber tool. I have the a longer version in every room of my house. They are very well made and the grabber part can be turned the other direction by pulling the end out a little , rotating the unit and then pushing it back in place. I have arthritis and have to use a walker for every step I take. Carrying the long grabbers with me is a little like carrying a jousting stick. This short grabber fits between my walker seat and frame on the side. It fits perfectly only sticking out a little on the front. The grabber handle and trigger fit over the seat support frame just like a hook and that keeps it in place. I can leave it in place and still sit on the seat in comfort. I'm pretty sure Ettore didn't design the short grabber for use on a walker but it sure has been a godsend for me. Sitting on the walker, the short grabber is long enough for most things I want to reach for while in a sitting position but, short enough to store on the walker without being a jousting stick.I can't believe how much help this tool is to me while doing my housekeeping chores. I am so grateful for any adaptive tool that helps me deal better with my health problem but this little grabber is top of my list. Over the last 20 years I have tried a great many grabber tools with great frustration. This is the only type that is actually strong enough to work and the grabber function is wonderful. They don't fold in half. There are no funky springs with little black circle pads that break off. The designer of the Ettore grabber has my grateful thanks.
